He let himself be hugged, his own embrace somewhat aloof, but still there.

"It will be all right, Estaban. I promise you."

He gave the man the hug and then stepped back. It was obvious he was still in the dog house despite the man calling him here. and he had been called and told to show up.

"Yes father."

He looked around.

"Has your sister given you a drink?"

He nodded and moved back to the chair where he had left two fingers of scotch in a glass. Yes, father walked in and the conversation died. Not his fault. Dad was being...difficult. again.

He walked over and picked up a glass that had (magically) appeared so that he could drink it. He reached over to put a hand on Estaban's shoulder again, then sighed.

"I wonder what it is that you would have me do?"

He looked up at his father again.

"Accept me, hold me, feel for me. That is all you have to do father. Drink with me and commiserate.

He sighed once, then reached out a hand to rest against the back of the Toreador's neck.

"Then come here, my son."

He of course went to the man, without a word.

With one hand on the back of his neck, the other arm snaked around the Toreador. He pulled him close, resting Estaban's head against his shoulder.

"It will be all right, my son."

He went easily and sughed heavily. He just held onto the man for a moment and then spoke softly.

"Thank you father. Thank you."

He started to stroke the other Toreador's hair.

"You are welcome. I have always been here for you."

He had always been there for the day she left him or he left her. But Estaban wasn't going to say that, not now. He needed his father and he was there. That was enough.

He smelled different. Frederico, at the moment, smelled different. He smelled of... Areron. He continued to hold Estaban, to stroke his hair.

"Would you like to come to the den, my son? We can... talk."

He looked at the man a questioning look in his eyes and then he nodded.

"Oh course father."

His nose was way too good and he was confident in his sense of scent. He relied on it, It was superior he knew. And now pictures were going through his head.

He rose from the stool that he sat on, heading for the den. Funny how he kept his arms around Estaban the entire time, and how he guided his son to where he wanted him to be sitting.

"Here we are. Lie down."

He moved so that he could sit and still have Estaban's head in his lap.

No, not like that.

Get your mind out of the gutter.

He went, because right not it was the easiest thing to do. He lay where he was told, his head is his fathers lap and looking up into the man's face.

"Yes father."

He sat down, one long-fingered hand sliding over his son's hair. Comforting, really.

"What prompted this breakup?"

He closed his eyes.

"I did something stupid. I ordered Ra'idah to do something that she could not. That hurt her. I shouldn't of."

His brow rose.

"I thought she could do anything?"

He looked at his father.

"This was mental and emotional. My fault."

He knew it was not something he could avoid for long.

"I asked her to go get Serena for me."

He winced.

"I imagine that did not go well."

He shook his head just barely.

"No...not well. It was the fight. I am... so stupid."
