He continued to stroke his son's hair.

"What is it?"

"She still wants me. She still needs me. She is hurting as much as i am."

The words were so soft.

He looked at his father but said nothing. He knew about fading pain. It never truly went away. It always stayed at kleast a little, like a crack waiting to open up.

He smiled and leaned close, to brush a kiss over Estaban's lips.

"It will fade. I promise you."

He accepted the kiss, knowing it was meant as more than comfort. But he could not do more.

"Maybe father. But not today. The pain will not go away today."

"No," he said, his voice a whisper. He brushed another kiss over Estaban's lips -- light, gentle. "Not today. But it will fade, I promise you."

He shook his head but stayed there, letting his father comfort him. But all he wanted was his red heads kiss.

He sighed, heavily.

"Are you wishing to mope around?"

"No sir..."

Not very convincing.

He brought his hand up to cup the Toreador's cheek, his thumb gentle as it brushed over the jawline.

"Do not lie to me," he said softly. Then he leaned close to brush his lips over Estaban's mouth again.

"Yes father. Sorry father."

He looked into the other Toreador's eyes.

"What is it that you wish from me, my son?"

He sighed.. because he was unsure.

"Right now? Just the comfort of being with you. You are my father. You will always be my father, in more ways than one. Even when I let you down. Especially when i let you down."

He looked into his son's eyes, his lips lingering just inches from Estaban's own.

"Then why won't you let me comfort you?" he whispered quietly.

He looked int his fathers eyes and caressed his cheek with one hand.

"You already are father. You already are."

He looked into the Toreador's eyes.

"How do I comfort you?"

He looked back at the man who had brought him into this sunless world.

"By being here, by caring about me, by providing me someone I know will forgive me no matter what. And love me."

He smiled at the man.

"I am father. You show your love by just doing what you are doing."

At that, his brow rose.

"But it seems as though my affection is unwanted at the moment."

He smiled and looked up into those eyes. The smile was troubled and hurt and sad, but it was also thankful. It was for his Sire and no one else.

"No father your affection is always wanted. I just.. don't feel like having sex. Not yet."

His brow rose.

"And you are aware that that is my affection."

No, really. It really was.

He smiled and reached up to cup his father's cheek.

"Frederico, Do I really know you better than you know yourself? You are so much more than just a good fuck. You give effection in ways you evidently didnt know about."

He laughed.

"I know that I am more. Just one of those things."
