He nuzzled into the man and closed his eyes feeling at least a little secure.

"Again with the just. You are not just anything. You are an amazing man."

He smiled, brushing another kiss over the Toreador's lips.

"I think you have forgotten what an amazing man you are, my son."

He shook his head.

"Lately i feel anything but amazing, father."

He ran his hand through his son's hair gently.

"Why is that?"

"why? My own clan talks against my abilities, I loose the love of my life, I cannot keep the job i want and instead find myself loosing everything i care about for the one given. If it wasn't for my newest effort I would think i was loosing my ability as an artist as well. In case you havent noticed father.. My life is falling apart. Except for you, I have lost nearly everything."

He looked his father in the eye.

"you are right. i do need confidence. And the power to back it. I needto be more than i am."

He smiled.

"You already have the power. You just need the confidence for it."

He sighed.

"And how would you suggest I get that father? What is your plan?"

He smiled.

"I just want you to believe in yourself, my son."

He nodded.

"I will get there. i will learn to do so again. I used to. i used to never doubt myself."

He frowned.

"And what has made you doubt yourself now?"

He raised his eyebrows.

"Everything father. I lost the position of Harpy, I am Primogen but this clan is as far from united as can be, and now I let the love of my life slip through my fingers."

He sighed again.

"Pick yourself off the ground, my son. It can only get better."

he nodded and sat up.

"You are right of course father. I need to just get on with my life, fix, what i cna fix and deal with the rest like a man."

He smiled.

"Yes. You just have some help."

"I know father and I appreciate it. I know I can count on you."

well for most things anyway.

He held out a hand and took Estaban, the long, slim fingers sliding between the other Toreador's.

"Together, we will get through this. I promise."

His hand went into those of his fathers.

"i know. I know I have you by my side, on my side."

The Toreador drew the younger toward him. His free hand slipped around Estaban's waist.

"Will you stay and have a drink with me?"

He nodded, not really thinking about the meaning of the hands around his wrists. He knew but his mind was elsewhere. really.

"Of course father."

He drew the younger Toreador closer. It was very subtle.

"Stay here tonight."

He shook his head.

"I cannot.. She might come home. Plus...I think there is something i have to do. You have convinced me I do."

One perfectly groomed eyebrow arched.

"What is that?"

"reclaim my confidence."
