She ticked them off on her fingers.

He snorted.

"Not nearly enough. Okay. The powers of the Blood. You will heal faster. Depending on how often he feeds you, you can even heal a severed finger. You'll become more powerful, can learn to take a hit, give a hit, and move faster. You'll also be able to learn how to command people and make them like you. You'll stop aging, unless you stop drinking the blood, and you can't have kids. Sorry, it's one of the things."

"Figured, since that's the biggest change, that's what I should tell you. Us men still can. In fact, it's really hard for us not to have kids. Totally unfair. Anyways. You'll start to get stronger, and I can train you to fight. Don't really care what you think about that, you need to be able to defend yourself."

"I took karate when I was younger. I'm not a pushover. Not the best. But not pushover."

"I would still like you to train with me. To get used to what your body and blood can now do."

He pulled into the parking lot and parked the car.

"This is the place."

"Good. It looks cozy."

He turned the car off and climbed out, coming around the SUV to open her door for her.

"It's quite cozy, and very private."

And he led her into the tiny restaurant, where they were quickly given a table in the back corner.

She giggled a little -- following his lead to a table in the back and sat down.

"Where are you from? Originally."

"Windy City. Is it really windy?"

"Very. The wind comes off the lake and heads straight through the streets."
