Our new associate (Raz0r, Abby) - Johnathon's Haven

Johnathon stepped inside the home and smiled. "Welcome to house Grant. Raz0r should be around here somewhere, you can meet her."

As he spoke a tiny little grey field mouse popped her head out from behind a chair and cautiously approached the girl.

"That's Petunia. She's shy"

As he stepped in, he heard barking from the back of the house. And then there was a Corgi bounding his way. So very happy to see him.

She just stepped out of the way.

"It's like a zoo," she muttered under her breath.

He snorted and leaned over to give the animals a bit of attention before turning back to Abby. "More so if you count the robots."

Johnathon gestured towards his open office door. "Would you care for a drink?"

"Robots?" she asked, shaking her head, her eyes wide. "Yeah. Yeah, drink sounds good."

"She calls them Tachikoma. Modeled after something in a video game. The computer that runs the house is named Jarvis. You can speak with him if you like. "

He walked over to the bar and retrieved a pair of ornate cut crystal shot glasses. "Whiskey, vodka, rum, something else?"

She gave him a look like he might be retarded.

"Russian."

"I prefer not to assume. Is Iordanov ok?"

Yano, $100 plus per liter vodak "I'm afraid I don't have anything better."

The dog ran around them twice, then took off towards the house again.

She smiled.

"Iordanov is fine."

College student. Not a lot of money.

He poured her a double shot of the stuff, while pouring himself some whiskey from a dusty and old looking bottle.

"Have a seat if you wish, and please tell me more about your ambitions to become a real Frankenstein. "

She took a seat and the double-shot. First, she drained said double-shot like a pro. Then she smiled.

"Is just dream now. I don't necessarily want to create monster out of weird parts, just reactivate the brain."

He raised an eyebrow and poured her another double shot.

"To create the monster would be senseless. But to reactivate the brain, now that is a worthy ambition. But do you think we have a soul? Do you think the brain can come back without the soul, or perhaps the brain can be revived and placed in a mechanical construct?"

She frowned at that.

"No. Talking of souls makes someone sound like a superstitious fool. Science can do nearly anything. It is matter of finding right combination of science."

He sipped at his drink and smiled "I am inclined to agree with you, in fact I believe it as a fundamental part of my being. But let's play a game. Pretend that souls are real, and that the supernatural world is out there. Fantastic things, the monsters of myth and legend. What would you say of that?"

She walked in, hair hidden by an upraised welder's helmet, heavy leather apron on, as well as heavy gloves.

"Ein sems to think it's important for me to be here?"

She shook her head.

"I am better with science. Genetic mutations. They happen. Books on it, even. Freaks of nature."

"Perhaps you are right" he smiled, and then turned to Raz0r as she entered

"Raz0r, this is Abagail, she is studying to be a neurosurgeon. We were discussing reanimating the dead brain. Abagail, this is Raz0r, my fiancee"

She rose to her feet -- plenty steady because it had only been two double-shots, geez -- and offered a hand to Raz0r to shake.

"Pleasure to meet you."

She took off her gloves and helmet, sticking them together before taking the offered hand.

"Pleasure. Neuroscience, huh? That's pretty nifty."

She smiled.

"The brain is a fascinating thing, yes."

Johnathon finished his drink, and looked at Abagail. "If you'll excuse me for a moment? Would you care for something to eat? Or a cocktail perhaps?"

She took off her apron, folding it carefully so that none of the bits of metal and solder would flake off where the animals could get to them. Then she set it all on a table and moved to pour herself a whiskey.

"I love the brain. But then, I've made functioning AI."

She smiled.

"More vodka would be nice. But no, I'm not hungry."

She seemed very interested in Raz0r.

"Have you? Do they have functioning brains or is it all computer-based?"

She sipped her whiskey with a smile.

"Purely electronic. I haven't yet figured out how to fuse with living tissue. That's the bitch and a half."
