She shrugged.

"I just know how to recognize them. They're all magick-y. Without being dead."

"How ya make 'em dead? And keep 'em that way? Dude be fuckin' with good southern dead. That makes Chet somewhat less than happy"

She shrugged.

"They've got phenomenal cosmic powers. And they're still squishy humans."

"And itty bitty living spaces? Do they have those too?" he laughed

'Yah find the squishy people. Ah helps with the squiishin' "

She nodded.

"I'll see what I can do, for sure."

"Good good." he smiled "Ah think Bethy like ya"

She tilted her head.

"Why?"

"She didn't get ta' hang out with others like her much for a very long time, and she didn't get much kind treatment from mah kind neither until I came along. So imagine a hundred and fifty years of abuse, neglect and maltreatment. That's Bethy. Anyone who shows her real kindness is appreciated, and she treasures it. She sure do. "

He looked at Alexandria and smiled again, only sadly. "She just want to have friends and be yano, a person."

Her brows rose.

"So she likes me because I treat her like a person?"

"It's... complicated. But yeah. She's grateful to anyone who treats her like a person. I mean hell, when I found her she was made to sit in a corner, and was a bet in a poker game. Bit me too" he chuckled

She shrugged.

"That's the way of life for ghouls. The best you can hope for is a domitor who doesn't want to experiment on you with sharp, pointy things."

"Don't mean it be right. But that be what ah get fer havin' a spark of of humanity, and bein' born in the 20th century ah reckon. Either way, she had a rough go of things, and ah love her dearly, so when anyone makes her smile it makes me happy. And you made her happy by listening to her, and with that big tiger of yours."

She smiled.

"Malks are crazy, not stupid. Seers are even less stupid. And Loki's a teddy bear. He's also an attention whore. He's probably eating it up."

"Good" he chuckled "Loki made her smile, that's all that matters in my book. Ain't easy puttin' somethin' broken back ta'gether."

She smiled.

"It never is."

"Can ah getcha sumthin' ta eat? We got steaks, gator, fish, fruits.... ah hell. Look in the fridge and cupboards, tell me what looks good and I'll cook it up fer ya"

She grinned.

"I think a steak sounds lovely, actually."

She wasn't picky about food.

He went into the kitchen and pulled out a cast iron skillet before lighting the gas stove. "How ya like it? Ah usually make 'em medium rare and fried up with some peppers and onions"

She nodded.

"Sounds good to me. Mushrooms too, if you have them."

He nodded, while pulling out the ingredients. "White button, or them fancy portabello ones?"

She snorted.

"White button. I'm not the fancy type."

"Good, 'cuz ah ain't got no other type, unless Bethy finds sumpin' in the swamp"

He tossed the steak into the heated skillet and started to let it sizzle and brown on one side. Veggies would come a bit later

She smiled.

"You want help with that? I used to be a pretty mean cook."

"Go for it love" he smiled "Bethy cook fer herself mostly, and I be out of practice, I think she eats what I cook out of love and tolerance more than flavor and taste"

Grinning, she made her way over and started adding some spices to a bowl.

"You got potatoes?"
