Graveyard Gossip - Cabin in the Swamp

She rose slowly to her feet.

"Right now? He's coming right now?"

She shook her head.

"The cloud spreads, darkness in it's wake. He is coming, and the souls he eats give him power."

"Where does he be comin' from love?"

She stepped away from him, then turned until she was facing south. Not dead on, but in that direction. Her arm rose, and she pointed.

"He comes from there."

"Narrows it down right considerable like that does. Can ya see more? What does he come from? An island? A city? Sumpin' else?"

As Bethy started to move and talk, her own eyes glazed over. And then it was gone, the blonde saying just one thing.

"Fuuuuuuck."

Suddenly her legs gave out from under her, and she started to fall.

"Real considerable helpful" he muttered

Hey. Get over that one. She immediately moved to try and help catch the falling Bethy, shaking her head as she looked up at Chet.

"This isn't good. This is not good at all."

He'd still been holding the ghoul close, so even though her legs gave way, the Malk still had a firm grasp. Gently, Chet carried her over to the couch inside and beckoned Alexandria to follow.

"Ya' all be lettin' on what ya be knowin? Be a dear and fetch a cold water from the fridge" he said to Alexandria. The little ramshackle kitchen was visible from the equally ramshackle living room.

Loki followed the blonde inside, but he seemed mostly gentle. He was just big. She made her way to the kitchen and started rooting around in the refrigerator for cold water. There was something odd about the way she bent over, though. Like she wasn't used to just bending over from the waist. She more... folded... over herself, as though it were much more natural for her to bend at an unnatural angle.

"All right. So, I know it's a mage of some kind. And that he's coming from down south. Way down south. I think Haiti? I'm not sure... but voodoo is bad, and that's the kind-of vibe I'm getting."

"Ahh fuck me.... nigger mages be the worst sort"

Finding water, she made her way toward him with it in her outstretched hand.

"Yeah. But the flavor of the mage is the problem. A soul-eater of some kind, but I don't really know that much about mages. Just the basics. I can recognize one if I see one."

He opened the bottle and offered to to Bethy while nodding

"How we find it, how we gonna kill it? Also, ah be a regl'ar insomniac. So, night shift fer me"

She smirked.

"You're a Kindred."

She took another drink from the bottle in her hand.

He turned and stared "And what the fuck ya be?"

She smiled.

"A ghoul."

"Damnit ta' hell. Ya could have told me this sooner. Oh well. Ah be Malk, what are you?"

She smiled again.

"Tremere."

"Ah pity. Ya 'all done came so close to figgerin' it all out. Well Miss Alexandria. A bendy tremere ghoul with a pet tiger who can talk to the dead. What's the plan, since the ghouls seem to be seein' more than the Kindred done see right now."

She tilted her head thoughtfully.

"I'm probably going to research voodoo mages. See if I can't find out anything about them. And keep talking to the dead. We need to keep a very open line of communication with them, since it's important that we are able to help them. But for the love of everything you care about, do not attack the mage without a plan. That's just suicide."

"Chet don't attack without a plan, unless he got no other choice. Ok, so ya gonna do the fun research stuff, but ah no nothin' about mages, ya gonna enlighten me on them some, or ya gonna keep all yer fancy Tremere book larnin' to yerself?"

"They turned a clanmate of mine into a lawn chair once."

She took the water, finally coming around.

"Was I useful?"

"Knowed me a few Nos what would call that an improvement. Either way thought, it is tacky."
