Distractions Necessary (Open)

He chuckled.

"I figured that you would say that. But if you find another pair of favorites, let me know."

"I will let you know I do slow night trials." with a smile at him, leaning back into the seat and looking at him.

He chuckled and started the SUV. Griselda was one of the most powerful Kindred in the city. He wasn't worried about her safety at all. Her mental state, yes. But not her physical state.

"Slow night trials, huh?"

"Yes, I get to sit more on slow nights." with a smile at him.

He laughed.

"I didn't know that slow nights happened at popular bars."

"Some are slower then others, I can work Sunday through Wednesday solo due to them being slow nights." with a smile at him. "Thursday through Saturday I need another bartender and a bar back."

He pulled out of the parking lot, shaking his head.

"You are a mightier woman than I."

"Oh mister 10 hours straight doing surgery - I don't want to hear it." with a smile at him while looking at him while he drove.

He laughed.

"That's different. I stand in one place. Not run around."

"I can't stand still, which I have found out, so even though I have a degree I can't sit still for 8 hours." with a smile at him. (No she hadn't mention finally graduating till now)

He glanced over at her.

"You have your degree? Why didn't you tell me?"

"It was a winter completion and you had enough going on." with a shrug "Nothing big just business with linguistics minor. And I only had a B average."

He smiled.

"Still something to be proud of. We will have to celebrate."

"We don't need to, I'm still upset my GPA fell." With a frown. "But I know you'll do as you wish." with a smile at him.

He pulled out into the road and headed toward home.

"There is nothing to be ashamed at with a B average."

"But I had a 4.0" with a half smile at him "But I got this distraction, full time job and debating majors for a bit."

He looked over at her and shook his head.

"Oh, for crying out loud. It's not bad until you deal with a 1.4."

"Now you sound like my counselor." sticking her tongue out at him.

Because it was a small town, in less than fifteen minutes, he was pulling into the parking lot of their apartment building.

"That would probably be insulting if it weren't true."

"Didn't mean it to be insulting." Going to unbuckle her seat belt and carry her shoes in, while she walked barefoot.

He turned off the car and came around to hold her door open for her.

"True, but I can act offended about being associated with a guidance counselor. They are, to me, like accountants. Utterly boring."

"True and you are not that. I am sorry for the insult." stepping out of the SUV.

He laughed.

"I knew that you didn't mean it as an insult. We're all good."

She gave a smile with a look of relief, "dinner?"

He smiled.

"I already ate. I will make you dinner, though. Go soak your feet in a hot tub."
