He thought for a moment.

"I am happy. when she leaves I am miserable. And when she is miserable i am miserable. but to have her close... i feel alive."

He thought about it for a moment and then went to sit down. thinking abo0ut it even more. he lit a cigar and looked at it.

"Father.. I owe you an apology. more than that. I have wronged you. And I am so sorry. I have been so.. wrapped up in my love for her, that I only come to you hen something worries me or upsets me. I never share my joy with you, that pure happiness and excitement she gives me. I keep it private like a treasure. And that is not fair to you. Please.. i hope you will accept my apology. I promise i will not do that any more."

His brow rose.

"Accepted, though I'm not entirely sure what is prompting this apology."

"You mentioned that all you see is my misery. And I realized the only times i come to you is when i have a problem. Not once have I come to you to tell you of my joy. i should have come to you to tell you about the ring, to share it with you, even if you did not like it. It is your right as my father, as the man i love."

He shrugged one shoulder.

"I assumed you wished me to stay as far away from you and she as possible."

he shook his head.

"Not really father. I did fear you might run her off with your disapproval but that is no longer a problem I think. if anyone runs her off it will be me and my idiocy."

His brow rose.

"More trouble, son?"

He shook his head.

"No, just this mess between her and me. nothing unexpected."

he shrugged.

"I made it worse before it got better, but it is heading in the right direction. I just need to make sure i do not hurt her any more."

The perfectly manicured brow arched.

"What did you do?"

A big sigh followed a shake of his head.

"You know how i have a tendency to make bad decisions when i worry. But it is taken care of and it will be better soon.. It is getting better."

His brow stayed up, but he nodded.

"Very well."

"You realize Areron can be reckless. You will have to watch her carefully."

His brows rose.

"Why? I intend to eventually play with her, not marry the woman."

He laughed.

"No I meant as Harpy. she might well bring a bad taste to the toreadors here .. if she lets go too much. After all, her history says much."

He waved a hand.

"I am unworried about her abilities as Harpy."

He laughed..

"Then worry about the fact that she leaves bodies behind her."

He waved a hand.

"She's not that stupid."

He raised an eyebrow.

"Look into it father. Find out for yourself."

He shook his head.

"No, I've heard the story. I'm saying that she's not so stupid as to try that same thing twice."

He laughed.

"No, not the same thing. On the other hand she got away with it once, what is to stop her from doing something..different but with the same level of.. disregard?"
