Distractions Necessary (Open)

"Well I appreciate getting a living wage." with a grin at her. "But if I'm ever too much of a burden let me know."

She rolled her eyes at Ali.

"Guuuuurl, please. Don't even start with that. You keep my bar running smoothly. That's not a burden, that's a Godsend."

She chuckled and looked at her, "Just saying, I do try to keep things here going smoothly and not be a pain in your ass. Plus it keeps me from going crazy." with a grin at her.

She laughed at that.

"You're not a pain in my ass. In fact, you make a lot of things not be a pain in my ass. For which, I'm eternally grateful. That said, aren't yearly reviews coming up soon for everyone here?"

"Yes I got everyone's done but the new cocktail waitress want to see her on a few more really busy nights and the new bouncer." with a grin at her.

She was moving behind the bar with ease, obviously at home back there. Even while cleaning. Which included the sweeping and mopping of the floor behind the bar and running the numbers for the printout of the till.

"I've got yours mostly done. I'll schedule that for a night that you're working, but not on a really busy one. That way, it's not cutting into your off time."

"I don't have any scheduled for a bit, so I'll be here." with a smile at her.

Both of her brows rose.

"Are we that short-staffed that you can't take a night off? Or are you just doing your workaholic not-trusting-the-new-people thing again?"

"Nah someone else's work is short staffed and I'd rather work then be at home alone." with a shrug.

She nodded her understanding.

"Got it. But at least he comes home every night, no?"

"Yes but this way we get off the same time." with a smile at her. "Or close to it."

She nodded at that one.

"Even better. He takes care of you well, I hope?"

Because she would literally kick his blonde German ass if he didn't.

"Very well." with a blush, her hand briefly touched the necklace and a bright glowing smile as she said it.

For all of her innocence, Griselda understood that necklace. She understood the German, too. She knew his proclivities and nodded with an approving smile.

"Good. People don't always understand him. But he is a good man."

"Yes he is." with a nod to her, and the way she said it made it seem maybe Ali got him - well at least on some level.

She nodded and leaned back against the bar, picking up her coffee cup.

"That's good. People don't understand me much, but that's not new. I'm glad he has you. His ex was terrible for him."

Ali wrinkled up her nose, "I don't ask, we mesh well I think." with a shrug "But I can't speak for him so you may wish to ask him."

She shook her head.

"I don't need to ask him. When Medwyn is unhappy, it's obvious. I can tell that he's not unhappy with you."

Just then, a man filled the doorway. He had showered after work, his hair was still wet. But he was clean and looked good and like he didn't give a damn if the bar was serving booze still or not. He just sauntered up to the bar and leaned against it, giving Griselda and Ali a nod.

"Evening, ladies."

Victor glanced up as Medwyn came in and nodded in greeting, while still fingering the drink he'd ordered earlier in the evening.

She turned and smiled, nodding to the man leaning against the bar.

"Evening, Medwyn."

"Hey." with a bright smile at Medwyn. "Want some coffee?" Going to get up and wait on him, but pausing to send a quick text, then looking at him "Surgery go okay?"

His smile was a little brighter when he held up a hand.

"No, thank you," he said to the offer of coffee. "It went wonderfully, actually. The kid is doing well and we only had one minor hiccup. Everything else was textbook. How was your night?"

"Glad things went well."  Which was genuine, then a coy look briefly at her boss before blurting "Much busier then expected due to a surprise night out by the boss, who seemed to have a great time." with a glance at Griselda "And she won't let me finish close." with a pout and a sip of coffee.

He chuckled.

"Well, you really shouldn't argue with the boss."
