She tilted her head.

"Seriously? This is the big secret of the universe? That vampires are real?"

No wonder she was annoyed when he talked of concepts an theories. The universe does not revolve around the existence of vampires. Or makeup and special effects.

"No" he said "That is not the big secret of the universe. I know a fallen angel of creation, Raz0r is a mage, and I... am a necromancer among other things. There are those of us who can cast our spirits from our body, or even take over the body and mind of another."

With another smile, he formed a shadow tentacle, and used it to pick up her empty drink glass.

Smoke and mirrors. She had seen David Copperfield do it without the cheesy special effects, even. She rolled her eyes.

"I saw this movie."

"Skeptical, that is good. If I could transform in front of you to a beast, would you have an explanation for that as well?"

She shrugged.

"Probably. But that is beside the point. How does existence of vampires unlock secrets of the universe?"

Because she honestly didn't get that.

"As I said, it doesn't. At least not in and of itself. But, as supernatural beings, we have a greater understanding of the world around us, than common mortals. We can travel to other planes of existence, manipulate things at the very quantum nature of reality; at least that is how I perceive magic. We can raise the dead, and more. You could spend an eternity applying a scientists eye to what I will be showing you over the next few nights, and still not fully grasp all of it. There is a God. I have seen his agents, and Raz0r has seen his face. Demons, angels, places where the laws of time and space are broken. All these I have seen and experienced. Can I show you in a night? No. But you will see and learn."

"Apply the scientific method here. Repeatable, and verifiable observation of phenomena. You believe my actions to be a trick. Would you accept me repeating them in the back yard under whatever controls you dictate?"

She shook her head.

"There are too many variables. I do not know how you work yet. But even if I were to accept what you say, that vampires are real, why would I care?"

"because we can access the supernatural and control much of the world behind the scenes. When I said I was with the government that was true. Just no mortal one. And through me, you'll have access to your experiments formally denied "

"What good will it do me? If it is not sanctioned by US Government, I cannot properly do research and publish my findings and accomplishments."

"We will find a way. You still wish to progress, do you not?"

She shrugged.

"Yes. But I would like to progress in a good way."

"we can arrange that. "

She shrugged again.

"All right."

"now, you have anything you want from me?"

She shrugged again.

"What else are you offering?"

"research facilities, permanent US residency if you wish, access to the finest educational materials. I could probably even get your father into this country and give him a new identity."

he smirked "vampires may not rule the world, but we come close and my family is the most powerful of all vampire clans. "

Her eyes grew wide at that.

"Really? The most powerful?"

Inwardly he tried to decide if she was mocking him

"unless you count the warlocks, but they are too insular to take as much power as they could "

She blinked.

"Warlocks?"

"yes they are vampires with magic power "

She leaned forward.

"Magic isn't real, though."

"neither are vampires you claim, yet we are. Tell me, if i severed a finger and regrew it, would you accept my claims ?"

She smiled.

"No."

"I see why the Russians are unstoppable. How long can a man live without a pulse?"

She shrugged.

"Indefinitely. That's why there are machines that will pump the blood for you."
