Night Two (Open) - Johnathon's Haven

"Very carefully I think"

She laughed and started to bounce out of the restaurant. Confidence seemed to exude from her, with every move she made. She wasn't in the least bit worried.

"I should say so. Much like building robots, no?"

"Or restoring life to a human being" he smiled while walking over to his hot rodded pickup

She laughed as she made her way to the hot rod and slid behind the wheel.

"Well, yes, but it's more than just care."

He climbed up inside next to her and.. carefully fastened his seatbelt. Master of fortitude or not, some things are just dangerous. Like a woman behind the wheel

"I think it's an art. So, what is the fastest motor car you have ever driven."

There he went with the anachronistic turns of phrase again...

She started the engine with a grin.

"Dodge Viper."

"Not bad. Did you like it? If you could own any car in the world, what would it be?"

She started to pull out of the parking lot with a laugh.

"McLaren F1."

Johnathon didn't know that one and spent a moment looking it up on his phone.

"Interesting. And scarce."

She laughed.

"It is. But you asked about any car in the world, so there it is."

"Yes, yes I did" he laughed "I may have to buy one just to try it out. They look interesting."

She laughed.

"Good luck. They are very rare and very expensive."

"Many of the good things in life are" he chuckled "So tell me about what sort of laboratory you would make if you had nothing holding you back"

She frowned at that.

"Depends. On the space I have to work with, plus where I am able to get supplies from."

"Let us say you had the sort of resources a government could provide you"

Her nose wrinkled.

"Then I am limited by government supplies."

He laughed "Black budget stuff my dear."

She shook her head.

"With the sensitivity of what I propose to do in mind, that cannot be. Everything must be above-board."

"You would not operate in secret then?"

She shook her head.

"No. Too much complications in secret."

"Do you think you can gain public support for raising the dead, or researching how to do so? Much of the world is still in the primitive savage stage. Witness the Muhamadians who riot and kill over perceived slights to their prophet; they do so even in the great nations of Europe. And here, we have our own breed of superstitious religionists who take insult at science and demand laws that impose their uneducated beliefs on the populace."

She started to open up the engine just a little.

"No. I think that if there should be breakthroughs, such as finding a cure for cancer or something in the process, operating in secret would be prohibitive to something so wonderful finding its way to public."

He smiled as she opened up the truck

"So... nice public biotech firm with stated goals of celluar tissue regeneration and the long term preservation and maintenance of life?"

She laughed.

"Yes! And full grants for decades!"

"Or a private foundation that carefully cultivates the right sort of people...." he smiled

"What could you do with say a hundred million?"
