Night Two (Open) - Johnathon's Haven

She laughed.

"Is this where you tell me one time in Russia you saw Bigfoot?"

"No, no. Nothing like that. But I've seen a ghost, and one time I believe I felt the presence of a demon..."

Her head tilted.

"Cloven hooves and horns demon?"

"No, no. That is just a myth. Rather a being of evil, demented from living in the pits of hell, and abandoned by the Creator."

She shook her head.

"And now we're back to that whole souls discussion again."

"Well yes. Why do you think there are no souls?"

"It's not that I think there are no souls. It is that the belief in the soul is very destructive to what I wish to accomplish. Science and the soul are two separate things. To accept the existence of a soul is to accept defeat, for me."

"But if there is a soul, science would demand that you accept that too, and then find a way to work around it."

He looked at her thoughtfully. "I told you, I am with the government. If you can be patient with me one more night while your security clearances are finished, I will show you things that will change the way you view science and the world. You've met Jarvis, and I can tell you, he is the science I can show the public. Imagine what I cannot."

She smiled at that.

"I am from Russia. My father is KGB. I am sure your clearance will not extend to me."

"It already has" he smiled "I simply have to wait for a couple of formalities. Russians are not all bad people, and not all KGB were bad. Men must do what they must to survive after all. I admire your people greatly. They are strong and resilient. Also, your capacity for alcohol amazes me."

She laughed at that.

"My family has always had good constitution. I have been drinking vodka for twelve years now."

That would have started her drinking vodka at nine. Think about that.

He blinked. "Well... superior genetics for sure. What did your father do for the KGB anyway?"

She smiled.

"He is doctor."

Well, no wonder. It runs in the family.

"He must be proud of you" he smiled

She laughed.

"He is. Father is very good to me."

"kgb doctor, most interesting. "

She tilted her head.

"Why?"

"Why not? It is an important position within a powerful organization."

She laughed.

"Yes, but why do you find it so interesting?"

"Because there are many Russians, few KGB. Among the ranks of the KGB, fewer still would be doctors, therefore on the shear unusual factor alone, it is interesting."

She nodded.

"Ah. I just wondered why you thought it so interesting. You seem to find medical profession interesting."

"all science is interesting"

She smiled.

"Not all. Botany is boring as fuck."
