Training for Friends (Teddy) - Sunflower Beach

"Mmm'kay" she untangled her legs and more or less bounced off the sofa and onto her feet.
"So, out and come back in and try that again, yeah?" the blond said even as she was moving out of the room and disappearing through the door.

Channel... well, presence. She had to admit it was one aptly named discipline.

She took another breath and, focusing on that feeling, that sense of awareness of her own presence, she stepped back into the room.

Again, Cass began to busy herself. A distraction was needed so that she wasn't already focusing on Teddy.

When she came back into the room, it was only a few moments before Cass' attention was once more drawn back to the blonde with a smile. Again, she tilted her head as she watched.

"You're God damned bubbly, you know that?!"

A comment that had her breaking down in laughter.
"Hey, I've been called worse" the blond grinned, reaching up with a manicured hand to scratch her nails across the back of her neck. "But it's working? Like, it's the right kind of bubbly I hope because I'm not sure if there's any other kind of bubbly that would work if this doesn't"

Cass nodded approvingly. "I think it is working. It feels like it's working, if that makes any sense."

No... the Toreador had ever, ever had that power used on her before... surely not... /sarcasm.

"Bubbly is good. Bubbly works for you," she smiled. "At least we're not learning fortitude," she shivered at the thought.

It seemed to prompt a thought in the back the Caitiff's mind though.
"What -does- it feel like?" she said questioningly as she tilted her head to the side and walked over to sit down on the sofa again. "If i knew how it's suppose to feel like maybe it would be easier to replicate?"

"Well, it... it kind of feels like I just have to know you. To be your friend..."

She shook her head.

"Want me to try it on you? Just for you to see what it feels like?"

"Mmm" the Toreador simply got a nod. "Sure, give it a try" she smiled. Though, the Caitiff had a feeling...

"Alright," Cass pulled herself to her feet and wandered into the neighboring room for a few minutes.

And when she came out, there was an air of confidence about her. She sashayed, hips swaying... and then she let her own Presence roll right off of her in waves...

Cassie was good, Teddy knew she was, she'd seen her do that move before though the actual effect of said discipline? Well, Cassiel's presence was noticeable, but her capital P Presence, not so much as the Caitiff tilted her head to the side and watched her.
"Hm..."
She looked... thoughtful.

"Hm?... What's 'hm' mean?" She blinked.

"Not working" she said almost apologetically as she gave her shoulders a light shrug. "I mean, yeah, hard not to notice you when you do that, but nothing that "hits" like I thought it would"

Cass looked horribly confused by that. Using Awe was one of the easiest things in the world...

"Oh... okay... Maybe I goofed?" Which would be totally odd.

"Could be but... try again" she nodded. "I just got a hunch I've never really gotten to test before"

Alright... out of the living room she went and back into the kitchen. She waited a few moments and took a breath.

Then Cass walked right back in. TADA!! Presence.

She watched Teddy for a glimmer of effect.

No, not a glimmer of effect. Nothing beyond the Rose' natural charisma anyways.

"Thought so..." the blond shuffled into the corner of the sofa, her hands in her lap as she rested a shoulder against the back of the sofa.

What, did Cass come back from the Twilight Zone with both the inability to snap a good picture and the inability to perform the simplest functions of her blood?!

The pout on the Rose's face was... real... she was really pouting...

"Oh, Cassie! No" she stretched her arms out towards her. "Hey, come sit. It's not you, it's me, and I know that sounds like the worst cliché in history but it isn't. I don't think it works on me" the blond tilted her head to the side. "I've seen it used on others, I've watched the effects on people standing right next to me and around me without it hitting me, not once. So I've had a hunch for a while just no way of testing it"
The Caitiff smiled at her. "Really really think it's just me and not you Cassie. I already know mind dominating powers don't work on me, but that's more of a focused effort. Seems Presence just... for the most part, doesn't take effect"

Cass moved over to the couch and sat, looking curiously to her friend. And then she curled up onto the couch and into Teddy's arms.

"Why do you think you are so... strong against those powers? I mean, don't get me wrong, it sounds... very nice, but, I don't understand how that would work. But... at least you have some defense against people like Jennica," she smiled softly.

"I dunno" she said softly, wrapping her arms around Cassiel. "Then again a lot of things with don't make much sense heh... I don't even know what blood I come from, much less why anything is the way it is with me" the blond shrugged her shoulders casually. "Might just be I'm a freak of some sort"

"I don't think you're a freak, Teddy," she said softly as she snuggled up. "I think you're just you. And there isn't a thing I would change about you. You're not a freak, you're someone special."

The blond bit her lip softly.
"You and Medwyn keep calling me that I might just start believing it.." she said gently, brushing a hand across her friend's long hair.

"Oh, so I have a new job each night?" She smiled. "Note to self, call Teddy nightly and remind her how special she is so she will start believing." Cass nodded. "I can and will happily do that."

At which the blond couldn't help but chuckle.
"Ah come on" she grinned, leaning down to kiss the top of Cassiel's head. "Do I really come across as being that insecure? I thought I was pretty self confident you know? I just never thought I was all that special" Teddy winked, giving Cassiel another squeeze while she still had her in her arms.
"Just no pouting because your Presence didn't work on me alright? Because, like I said, I had a feeling it wouldn't. And to be honest, I think the only reason I'm still here at all is because my mind is as shielded as it is. Caitiffs are easy to... get rid of if you don't like them and you got a bit of status" unfortunately.

"I suppose that's a fair assumption. Doesn't make it right, but... it's true..." She sighed, no longer pouting. She was too comfortable to pout now.

"But you are special. I think so anyway. And I've known my fair share of Caitiffs. So... " She stuck her tongue out at her.

"Yeah well, you obviously got a thing for strays" Teddy smirked, tapping the Rose. "So hey, if that's it for my first lesson, how about we see if we can't get you to flex some of those creative mental muscles of yours?"
