"I already told you. Because it's been a while since I last had any blood and my heart's been feeling weird again. I trust her to come back but in the meanwhile I rather be safe than sorry and actually take my pills when the blood isn't sustaining me"

"What happens, happens" Jack shrugged his shoulders lightly and moved the hand that had been gently petting her to place his fingers under her chin,lifting it gently. "It will be fine. I promise"

He lifts her chin but she looks away. "Stop"

"I only ever wanted you to be happy you know" came the softly spoken answer. "But I dunno if I know what makes you happy anymore.."

"I dunno... I honestly don't know" his voice sounded perhaps a little broken. "You make me happy... and the thought kissing someone else, wanting them more than me.. breaks me a little. But at the same time, if you wanted someone else, I wouldn't stand in your way... So I don't know... I don't know what you want anymore. I don't know what I want..."

There wasn't really a good answer to give to that, as, to be honest, he wasn't the only one needing to figure things out now was he?
"You should probably get back to your place before they start wondering where you are..." and whether or not anything had happened to her. He honestly didn't want people pounding on his door looking for her. "Just, don't worry about me" Jack said quietly.

"I'll see you, I'm sure" sorta, kinda, maybe... He still smiled though, that gently reassuring one that he gave people when he wanted them to relax, wanted them to know everything was alright.

It was the smile that did it. Really, the reassuring smiles and acting like it was no big deal was just enough to push her over the edge. She stepped back away from him, tears running down her cheeks .
"Whatever, do wha' ye wan'. Fuckin' glad this is all easy an shit" she says, turning and heading for the door.

He watched her leave, not about to say anything until she'd stormed out. And when he finally spoke? It was in a whisper only he'd hear.
"It's not easy, but you learn to live when you've known since you were a kid that you might up and die at any time..." Jack said lifting a hand and rubbing his neck with a weary sigh. Eyes locked on the door with a slightly pained frown.
"I love you..." but if Eve didn't come back, there was no future for them, and Abby had said it herself, it wasn't enough without that...

It was for the best.
