Our new associate (Raz0r, Abby) - Johnathon's Haven

She nodded.

"It seems like it would be. Are they self-aware at all?"

She grinned.

"Jarvis!"

The voice came from everywhere at once. There must be speakers in the walls. It was soft and definitively male.

"Yes, ma'am. I am entirely self aware and very happy with my existence."

She laughed, even clapped her hands, she was so delighted.

"Haha! It is pleasure to met you, Jarvis! I am Abby!"

Grant came back out of the kitchen with a bloody mary. "Triple shot this time" he chuckled

(Yes, real bloody )

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Abby. Will you be working with miss Raz0r?"

Raz0r just smiled and watched the woman become enthralled with her creation. It was a good feeling.

She took the glass from Johnathon and gave him a smile of thanks. But she was like a kid in a candy store, talking to Jarvis.

"I do not know, Jarvis. It depends on what Miss Raz0r works on if I can help at all. And if I find time with school schedule."

Johnathon found a chair to sit in and smiled. This was going to become rather interesting.

"She is attempting to create true artificial life. Your abilities will be very beneficial to her work."

She seemed thoughtful. And frowned.

"But my goal is to create true life again. I do not know anything about artificial life."

"Seems to me if you can make true life, and understand it's complexities, you can use that as a basis for mimicking it with machines, or even interfacing the two together."

She shook her head.

"Perhaps I misspoke. I am not wishing to create true life. I wish to bring spark of true life back to living creatures that have lost it. It's not something can be done artificially; artificial life, while amazing, was never truly alive."

"How is your drink?" He smiled while sipping at his century old whiskey

"Do you think life is the correct collection of chemicals, nutrients and electrical stimuli to the brain?"

"I have read of scientists from the union of soviet socialist republics who transplanted dog head and kept them alive and aware apart from the body" he spoke like someone who was only aware of the soviet union in an abstract sense, despite looking old enough to have seen and understood their collapse.

"Depends. Life is comprised of a series of chemicals and stimuli. But how to put the two together in the proper order after death is tricky."

"It seems to me first you need fresh organs, or to be there at the moment of death, with the proper machines already hooked up. Perhaps it would be possible to maintain the brain in this fashion. Do you wish to raise the entire body, or grow a new one, or simply move to brain to a mechanical construct?"

"Raise the body. It is important that life continue and to prolong it in such a manner would be extremely beneficial."

"What of old and worn out bodies?"

She shrugged.

"They are people, too. It would depend upon their wishes."

Raz0r chuckled.

"True. But to build up to that, you could help me to create an interface between the human brain and a cybernetic limb. It would be so much better, don't you think, if prosthetics could move?"

She grinned.

"Yes! That does not seem all that hard, honestly. They already make ones that move, so it is matter of making them move with thought."

She smiled.

"Work with me, and you'll go far. I'm the owner of a company that is pushing into research at the moment. I can throw you into your own lab for your work, if you would like."

She frowned and shook her head.

"Perhaps in time. I am still student right now."

She nodded.

"Of course. Wouldn't want to interrupt that. But I'd still love to pick your brain when you have time."

She nodded.

"I would love to."

Grant poured Raz0r a drink and then lifted his own in toast

"To restoring life"

She raised her glass and looked to Abby.

"To life."
