Red pill, blue pill (Raven, Cass) - Creator's Workshop

"Nothing bad. You have my word. I promise your blood will not leave this room, and I will not need more than a drop."

The bright blue eyes flickered from the Elder to Cass and then back to the needle. She hesitate, perhaps understandably so, before Cassiel could feel her relax. Perhaps not so much because she was relaxed, because let's face it, she wasn't, but more in a quiet kind of resignation.
"Okay..."
Was she certain? Hell no. Which was why she was watching him, closely.

Cass only then stepped to the side, but was not more than arm's length away, in case Teddy changed her mind.

Teddy flexed her fingers once, looking at her hand before holding it out to Chase, palm up.
Good thing Cassiel was there or she might've just gone for the flee option.

And true to his word, Chase pricked the Caitiff's finger with the needle and waited for a single drop to form on the surface of her finger before he scooped it up in the eye of the needle.

Then he did the most curious thing, he licked the blood from the needle, looking rather contemplative.

Yeah that was... weird.
Teddy arched a questioning eyebrow and glanced over at Cassiel as if to say "what the heck is he up to?".

Cass didn't have a clue, and the look on her face said as much. But she was watching closely, even if she was a little mystified.

"How very intriguing..." he said.

"Teddy, are you aware of the potency of your Vitae?"

Teddy shook her head.
"I dunno" she said. "I don't know how you really determine that.." and let's face it, she'd never had reason or the means to determine hers. It simply hadn't mattered. "I'm... I'm a Caitiff.." the blond shrugged her shoulders with a kind of awkward smile. "I guess I'm kind of... I dunno, average?" beat her what that was but she had no clue what he was really getting at.

Where the hell was he going with this? She looked between Chase and Teddy, taking Diego down from her shoulder to hold him at her waist as she swayed a little back and forth from her heels to the balls of her feet.

"Actually, you're above average. Your Vitae is actually as potent as my own..."

"I'm sorry, I'm not quite sure what that means..?" mostly so because she had very little clue as to the potency of his. "You probably just made a mistake" right?

"No... Teddy, you're... I know to which Generation I belong. Your blood has the potency of an elder. Indeed, I don't think I've ever met a Caitiff of such potent blood. At least not one who's never committed Diablerie in her existence."

"W-what? No... no I haven't" she shook her head. "I've only tasted vampire blood twice in my life. When I was turned and M...." the blond paused and looked down. "Medwyn's..." and he was very much still alive (as far as vampire's counted as being alive at least). Her aura would say the same thing, no traces of diablerie in that.

She wrung her fingers kind of nervously and threw a brief glance up at him.
"Is that bad...?" her generation being what it was? Her blood being what it was?

An elder's blood? Jesus, Mary and Joseph... Cass sort of just stared at the pair a little slack-jawed.

Hey, wasn't as if the blond really know what to say or think of the matter either! Which might explain the nervous fidgeting.

"It is and isn't a bad thing," Chase, aside from being surprised at the discovery of the Caitiff's generation, was remarkably calm.

"You see, the more potent our blood is, the more power we are capable of wielding. For example, no one of a lesser generation to my own will ever have my mastery of any of the disciplines I possess. Nor will they ever be capable of achieving my level of skills. But with that kind of power come a certain responsibility. Power is something that is easily abused and given the nature of Kindred we have to struggle, almost every night, not to misuse our power, lest we become monsters. But at the same time, it gives us the ability to make truly amazing changes in the world around us, to change or even save the lives of others. It's a double edged sword that, if we know how to use it, gives us the ability to carve a world full of greatness."

It might be apparent that Chase himself didn't consider his condition to be one which was cursed or damned, but rather the opposite. He believed the Kindred were, in their own way, blessed or perhaps even exalted among God's creatures.

And given his speech, the Caitiff's answer was perhaps a bit too simple.

"I make toys..."

Her idea of changing the world was making people smile. She wasn't cut out for greatness, it wasn't who she was. She was just a toymaker, who wanted nothing more than to make people happy, to make her lover happy, and to be allowed to do her little thing without being in the way.
The high humanity Caitiff wasn't one for misusing power, she wasn't really aware she had any beyond what anyone else had for that matter.

"If only everyone who received such power were toy makers." He said wryly.

"I don't know about power..." she frowned slightly. "I'm really not all that special.." she really still had no clue if this would affect things somehow and it worried her.

"You are not so keenly aware of your own potential, nor do you have the inclination to achieve that potential. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to insult you, I'm merely making a statement based on observation. You've not had, it would seem, anyone to educate you and thus do not have the... inclination to find out just how much power your wield. Because of your lack of interest, and your apparent inability to come under the sway of another's will, I believe you are a sufficiently low enough threat that my organization and I needn't worry. Cassiel trusts you at least."

"The only "power" I've been interested in wielding has been to protect myself.." Teddy said quietly. "I don't want or need much. I just want to live... to have my love by my side, to have my friends.." she threw a sideways glance at Cass who was probably still a bit freaked out.
"To make people smile... I have no desire to get in your or the organization's way..."

He nodded, "Hence the point of my comment; you are not interested in your own power. You seemingly have no use for it, and indeed I hope you do not."

That last part seemed like there might be something he wasn't saying.

Hell, she'd at one point offered to speak with the Warlocks to have her disciplines sealed away somehow. The only real use she had for them pertained to her art, and whole that was important to her, she could still create without them.
The offer had been declined though, and no mention made of it since.

"I seem to disappoint people a lot" she said softly with a kind of melancholic smile. "I am sorry... for not being better" wasted potential and all that.

"No, no. You, Teddy, are not what's disappointing me. I'm disappointed that no one has ever offered to better educate you. While I believe that each of us has an obligation to protect humanity, far be it from me to take away someone's right to seek out happiness and some form of... less hectic life."
