No Miss Sheriff, We've Been Good, We Swear... - Emily's Home

She glanced at Emily, shaking her head with a smile.

"No, Ems, don't worry about it. This is your home, and this conversation isn't going anywhere. Not for a while yet."

"No need for that, love." Michelle said to Ems, looking back to the Sheriff. "If you are going to charge me with some sort of breech or crime, get it over and done with, please. I am... pretty sure I am clear of such things, but hey.. ya never know." She shook her head. "But i am afraid that I am much too busy to step out for chats, randomly. This really is the best time to get anything off your chest, in regards to this all."

She tilted her head and looked at the Lasombra.

"I know I heard that wrong. I know you didn't just tell the Sheriff that you were 'entirely too busy' to answer when she calls. I know I misheard that."

She stepped forward, and though she wasn't very intimidating at four-foot-ten, she had a look in her eye that was blue steel.

"I'm being nice and just asking you to show up for a chat. You're trying to control a situation because you fucked up. If you wish to continue this course of action? I'll do what is most beneficial to me. Which will not be beneficial to you in the slightest. Don't be an idiot."

"Oh? I did something wrong, is it? Care to enlighten me on this charge?" Because she honestly didnt have a clue what that could be.

She stared at the Lasombra.

"I've just said twice that now is not the time or the place. What part of that are you just not understanding?"

"I thought not.." she smiled pleasantly, still.

"Some other time, then. Have a good night."

She rolled her eyes.

"Good Christ."

She gave Emily another smile.

"I'll catch you later, Ems."

She turned to leave.

"Uh...alright. See you." Emily said uncertain. She had been looking back and forth between the women biting her lower lip.

"I'll see you out..." Emily got up to take Griselda to the front door and see her off.

She didn't even pause, making her way to the door -- shaking her head.

Emily weakly said, "Bye..." Then locked the door and stood there for a second taking a deep breath. She woodenly walked back to the living room and plopped down on the couch next to Michelle.

"That...coulda gone better." Emily said witha sigh.

"Bye," she said cheerfully, giving Emily a wave as she left.

"It could have, but that was entirely up to her." Michelle said, leaning her head against the shoulder of the other girl. "She wants something from you, Emily. I can already tell. She thinks talking to me in secret is a smart thing to do, so that she doesnt show you what she really thinks and feels. There was no reason to not speak to me here, tonight. She has some sort of ulterior motives, darling."

"You heard her, right? 'I'll do what is most beneficial to me. Which will not be beneficial to you in the slightest.'" Michelle lightly shook her head. "A threat and insulting, over what? Telling her that I am a busy person, and dont wish to waste my time being brow beaten for my choices? I have broken no laws, to warrant such a reaction. All it took was to deny her what she wanted, for her to expose who she really is."

Emily was just quiet as she silently blamed herself for the situation. She should have just stuck with demons and been done with it. Adding other supernaturals to the mix just complicated things. Especially when she knew less about them. She never would have met or done the things she had though if she had avoided vampires, so there was no use thinking such a thing. The good outweighed the bad.

"I don't know what Griselda could want from me other than friendship. She could have done anything she wanted to me all the times we've hung out. She was my closest friend before I met you. Everyone else I knew was dead."

"She could have ghouled me ou killed me or any other manner of things. Instead she just hung out with me, doing normal girl things like shopping and riding horses. I think maybe I saw a side of her most of your kind doesn't." Emily said trying to make Michelle see what Emily saw in Griselda.

"Jesus Christ...." Michelle sat up and shook her head. "Wake up, Emily. For one moment... wake up, and open your eyes. This isnt a world of good intentions, in the first place... but once you slip into the Kindred side of it, there is even less light shining through the darkness. Think... just for a moment about what you said. You dont know what Griselda could want? She just found out you are a Fallen angel, Ems. What the hell do you think she wants? It sure as hell is not to leave you alone, in peace. You heard how she talked to me... that is because I have nothing she wants, that she cant take. 'I'll do what is most beneficial to me. Which will not be beneficial to you in the slightest."

This is a world of reading between the lines, Emily. I am not much different, but at least I am trying to be honest with you as much as I can. Even more so, than I should be." Michelle shook her head, standing up, and began to pace a touch. "She 'just hung out with you' because she was unaware of what you are. That is not the case now. Now, she is likely to continue to act the same way towards you, as if nothing is different.. and be very subtle. Offer to teach you some things, ask you some questions about yourself and your kind that may seem trivial to you... It's how kindred are, Emily. You have given her power over us, now. Next... comes the blackmail, or the hanging our secret over our heads, so subtley, that you would probably wont even realize its being done. "

Emily considered what Michelle said, her face pained.

"I can't just think that everyone is out to get me. Demons say vampires are out to get me, demons are out to get me, angels would kill me on sight, I can't just be afraid of everyone and everything. Where does it end?"

"You dont have to be afraid, Emily, but you have to learn the rules, the spoken and unspoken ones.. or you will end up getting yourself killed, as well as myself and possibly Sarah too. You cant just go around talking about about demons and vampires and werewolves. It doesnt matter how well you think you know someone you meet... it can be turned against you., and everything you hold dear."

She sighed. "It ends, when things are in place. Alliance and friends have to be made gradually. You can't just jump feet first into the deepend of the pool, or you will drown." She motioned to the door. "What do you really know of her, other than what she has shown you? Have you seen into her mind? Into her heart? You have only seen what is upon the surface, not what lurks beneath. Not really.. but you got a taste for it. How quick she was to threaten... to insult, over -nothing-. Did that seem like the person you thought you knew?"

"She seemed fine..." Emily said uncertainly looking down. "Everyone was very defensive.I think you and her will be able to work things out. She doesn't want me dead either, otherwise sh would have killed me. She wouldn't spread knowlege about me."

"I'm sorry Michelle." Emily said looking down

Michelle sighed again, and moved to be before Emily, kneeling down, placing a hand in her lap and the other liftnig the girls chin, softly, to look upon her. "I love you. Please, understand that I say these things not to make you feel badly, but to get you to understand the seriousness of the way of the world that you know little about. I do not want to see your hurt or harmed, Emily. You, Sarah, Kelly.. really are the last traces of light, in my existance. I do not want to lose that, nor have you lose me...

"I am not trying to keep you, as a person, locked away. Just the secrets, you possess. They are dangerous, and we are not ready for them to be exposed. It's not even remotely safe to do such. I dont care if you make friends, or go shopping, or whatever you want to do as long as you do it without exposing us. No matter what comes of this, you cannot do it... that is a sure way to get sent back to Abyss, by whoever might want to cause you harm. Slowly, my love... things have to be taken slowly."

"I will Michelle. You be careful too. Try to have an open mind when talking to Griselda next. I don't want you in any more trouble for me. K? You need to be careful too, we don't know the ritual to summon us back yet."

MIchelle wrapped her arms around the girl's neck, burying her face into the crook of her neck, placing a small kiss there. "I just worry, Ems. I just found you all, and I dont want to lose you." he gave a firm squeeze, et gentle at the same time. She held onto the embrace, her skin warmed from the previous moments of just before Sarah touched her.

"We will sort this out. I promise to play nicely, next time. But know that I do not trust here, and she has shown me little to make me think I should."

"I know Michelle, I'll be more careful for everyone's sake. A real ninja." She said smiling, sadness in her eyes. "I'll get where you won't even have to worry about me."

Michelle looked to her eyes, frowning. "Why are you sad?"

"I'm sad so many people have to worry about me. I'm the one who is supposed to be doing the worrying."

"You are just rushing things, a bit too much. Once you slow down, and with some time and a return of your strength, the roles will be reversed." she smiled and kissed the girl's forehead. "

Emily nodded, leaving unsaid she wished that was now. She got up and went to go play with Sarah. The child made everything better.
