What is wrong with you? (Grant/Shauna) - Lowrey Manor

She smiles.

"If you ever need help, do not hesitate to ask."

Shauna chuckled and thumbed to their brother inside. "Funny that... I thought I did." And she gave Christine a wink.

She laughed and gave a wave. Then headed inside and upstairs to check on Johnathon.

He was in the room, boots off and laying on the bed, taking notes in a little notebook

She knocked on the door frame politely.

"Mind if I come in?"

"Your home" he chuckled while setting down the notebook. "But not at all. I was expecting you'd be up"

She slipped in and sat at the edge of the bed.

"I truly hope you don't mind that I'm confining you to the grounds until the full moon goes away."

"My dear Miss Lowery, if I did you would have heard of it, and likely you or Grendel would have had to put a piece of wood into my chest. Rest assured, I do know when to graciously accept this sort of offer, particularly from an Elder such as yourself."

She smiled.

"Good. Because it is for your own good."

"Something I have known since I tried to stake my sire in a clan meeting shortly after embrace" he grinned. "Once my affliction was determined I was actually kept staked during the full moon until I had a better control over things. Being aware of it, I will not turn down freely offered help. I had hoped it wouldn't be an issue here, but alas it got away from me."

She nodded.

"Of course. And staking will be a last resort, though as long as you are here, all my staff will carry one."

"I would expect no less. Oh..." he said sitting up and removing the bowie knife he wore tucked in the back of his trousers. "I should give you this. There are blades in both boots too."

She took the weapon from him and nodded.

"I'll take them with me when I leave. But I do not worry overly much about you."

"I thank you for the vote of confidence. Tell me, what do you think of the Tremere's plan to take Miami for himself. Do you think your Prince's plans will stop him? He had thoughts of going independent, which could open up the potential for war. He also thinks he can secure the waterfront. If I may be so bold, I would suggest acquiring one or two freighters or cruise ships and positioning them there now, and prepared in such a way as they could be scuttled to deny traffic, the like in case of something bad happening."

She nodded.

"I will bring this before the Prince."

"Mind you, part of me is sympathetic, but not much. Not for a Tremere."

She nodded.

"What is your particular problem with them?"

"Rather, this one. I do not trust him. He speaks of freedom, but I think it is freedom for himself first, and only as a by product of those he would rule. He seeks power above all else, and the freedom to act for others only so much as it suits his will and supports his power base. This is is a false freedom, and a dangerous one, for such a man will use any justifications to achieve his ends."

She nodded.

"Valid concerns. There are flaws in every freedom, but that does not sound pleasant."

"Indeed. I cannot put my finger on it, but this one concerns me. Miami will be this regions battleground, mark my words. "

She nods.

"Enough of that. What can I and my people do to help make your time here enjoyable?"

"Books " he grinned. "I've taken a liking to heinlein and a fellow named Michael z Williams"

She nodded.

"I have a full library. Feel free to browse."

"I shall and gladly. I see too you raise horses. I have not ridden in sometime "

She smiled.

"Forgive me, but that can wait until you are over the full moon hump. They are my pride and joy and I will not risk them."
