He didn't pull away from her. But he let her nuzzle against him, as he thought about how to word his answer.

"I... you're very beautiful. Everyone can see that. But things didn't... go so well for me.... the last time I got myself involved with a Kindred."

"Good thing I am just looking to play a little bit then... getting involved gets messy." she answered turning her face to gently nip at his finger tips.

He didn't stop her, but he wasn't encouraging her.

"I don't do casual play."

She arched a brow, "Oh?" she asked.

He smiled.

"Yes. Sorry. I don't do casual."

That made her smile deepen, "Why not?" her hand continued to trace small circles at his hip.

His jaw tightened, and he glanced at her. He didn't remove her hand, but he made no move to touch her.

"I may be a ghoul. But I am not a plaything for anyone, most especially vampires."

Raising her hands she took a step away, "That was not my intention, though I think you already know that. Mutual pleasure and satisfaction nothing more. Any gift not given freely by a friend isn't worth having." With those words she took a few steps backwards and rested against the edge of the stones.

He smiled at her, at least to take some of the sting out of his words, maybe. He shook his head.

"I apologize if my words are offensive. I just don't think it's fair to you that you aren't aware of how I think and feel. You're very beautiful, Teagan. And very attractive. But something casual isn't really in the cards for me."

resting where she was she didn't look offended in the slightest only curious. "Your beliefs..or?" She didn't appear to be trying to talk him into anything, but rather was wondering why he felt that way.

He smiled.

"My beliefs, Jamie's beliefs. Plus there's this whole... while you're very beautiful, you're not really my type. It's the claws."

She smiled playfully with a shrug that said she still wasn't offended, "You said your last relationship with a kindred didn't go well? Could I press my luck and ask what happened?" She was still resting against the rocks watching him in the water. It would be from her demeanor hard to guess that moments before she had been molesting him.

He smiled.

"Oh, just that she had a Kindred lover who was very possessive of her, to the point he considered her to be his. I had some broken ribs for the trouble of doing as she asked."

"Suck," she offered sympathetically. .

He smiled.

"Nothing to be sorry for. It just means I'm more cautious. I'm not quite as strong as you Gangrel tend to be."

You know. Claws.

"Who had the claws, her or her boyfriend?" she asked curious.

He smiled.

"They both had claws, in their own way. But the physical claws, the ones you possess, was her boyfriend's."

She nodded, it had clicked into place. With a smile she nodded to the stretch of beach that wasn't warm. "Well friend still up fire a swim?"

He laughed.

"Swimming? Most definitely."

"Lets go then slow poke." She said as she hauled herself from the water.

Laughing, he turned to follow her.

"Hey, don't blame me. I'm not as athletic as you are!"

She laughed and leaving her clothes where they lay, made her way to colder water. "Come on Mr. certified life guard." She teased.

He had no problem following her.

"I'm coming, I'm coming."

Laughing she hit the edge of the surf at a jog and when she hit waist high water she dove under the water and began to swim in earnest surfacing about fifty yards off shore waiting for him to catch up.

He was a little slower to catch up. Fast and strong for a human, he was decidedly not a Kindred. He wasn't as strong as she, and didn't have the same sort of supernatural resistance. But he was definitely a strong swimmer, one of the best she had seen from a mortal. And it was only seconds behind her that he joined her.
