No answers (McKay) - Gilded Cage

"Jim if I could I would but I can't." hugging him back and looking to see if any of that made sense.

He slipped out of the car and held the door open for her. Then his arm was back around her, pulling her into a gentle hug. "Shh. It's okay, darlin'. I ain't pressin'."

She curled into his arms, rested her head on his chest, and hugged him tightly. "I know." softly said.

He reached up to play with her hair. "Good. So long as ya know."

Resting her head on his chest, "This isn't shopping." not moving though from his hug.

He still didn't move. "We got time. Take all tha time ya want."

Looking up at him after a bit more, "Ok let's shop." with a smile up at him.

He held her as long as she wanted him to. Then he let go with a smile and headed for the inside of the mall. "Absolutely. Everything's on me tonight." With a wink to her.

"Oh everything..." with a chuckle "You know I am expensive." with a nod to him.

He grinned and kissed the top of her head. "I'd be disappointed if you were cheap."

She laughs "Oh don't challenge me I am amazed how quickly I can go through the stuff." with a wink at him.

He grinned. "Why not? It's more fun when I get ta shower gifts on ya. Even better when they're gifts ya want me ta give ya."

"Then ohhh I am being given a challenge." with a grin to him.

He laughed quietly. "A challenge it is, then."

She hugged him again, then started to head in to shop and shop she would.

Much like the doting male that he was, he just stayed out of her way. He let her pick whatever she wanted, would offer suggestions now and again about something he might think would look good on her. But for the most part, he let her shop.

She did have a number of bags, more than happy to fill them, taking his suggestions, and with a smile after getting her new toothbrush and tooth paste "I"m done. thank you." looking up at him.

He took her hand. Then he grinned. "One more stop." He steered her toward one of the stores in the mall - a place that sold jewelry. "Pick a set. Whole set - whole works."

"I don't understand?' looking at him puzzled.

He smiled and tugged her inside the jewelers. "A girl should be treated like a princess. So we'll get ya some princess stuff. A whole set. Necklace, bracelet, earrings, ring, anklet - the whole deal. In whatever stones ya want."

"Well you know my preference for purple, so why don't you suggest a different color you'd like to see me in?" looking up at him.

He smiled and squeezed her fingers. "Darlin', I like every color on ya. But with your hair an' eyes, I'd say either sapphires or emeralds would look just darling on ya."

She looked at the two for a bit and then says "Sapphires please." looking up at the clerk and Jim.

He waved a hand for her. "Pick whatever ones ya like tha most." He winked at her. Seriously. He meant it.

She picked out a necklace, bracelet, ankle bracelet, earrings, and looked back at him on the ring just to make sure.
