| "What? I am" Jack chuckled as he got out, closing the door to the car and waiting for her to come around before walking up to the building and opening the door for her. "Good surprised though" he smiled as he lead them to what looked like an old service elevator, the rattly kind with an open cage construction. "I'm lazy" he admitted as he put the thing in motion to the sound to slightly creaking gears. "As long as this thing works, no way I'm taking the stairs"

| She just returns his comment with a smile. She eyes the elevator. "Sure i' is safe?" she says with a chuckle. | |

| "Totally" The creaking sound suggested otherwise, but it did move steadily up the floors. "I mean I've gotten stuck once..." he admitted with a light shrug. | |

| "Aye, well I suppose there coul' be worse things tha can happen then gettin' stuck" she says as they ride up the elevator. Its hard to tell if her comment was flirtatious or not. | |

| He didn't comment on it at least, though he did smile with an amused touch to his expression.
The elevator ride didn't end in them getting stuck though as it reached the top floor and stilled, jack opening the grid again so they could step out into what was essentially an attic that had been converted into a flat. Sort of. It still mostly looked like an attic, but it held enough to give a slightly homey feel to it.
"Make yourself at home" he smiled, motioning towards the couch by the tv and pulled off his jacket to hang it over the back of a chair while he made his way over to the kitchen corner. All in all, it looked like the kitchen, living room and bedroom was all just one open space, leaving plenty of unused space around the small occupied area. The bathroom at least was a separate room, though it looked like it had been a later addition to the place.
"You prefer it black or with milk and sugar?" Jack asked as he opened one of the kitchen cabinets to retrieve the coffee.

| She glances around the place briefly, taking off her jacket and sitting down on the couch. "Oh, black is jus' fine thanks" | |

| She got a nod from Jack as he put on the coffee, probably making ti a bit on the strong side.
The place looked... lived in. A little messy but not overly so. It was pretty obvious it was only him living there, and it was obvious he didn't often bring home people because once the coffee was on, he noticed the messy bed and the laundry that had missed the hamper and as such had simply been left to lay on the floor.
"Ah Christ..." he moved over and quickly shuffled things in under the bed and pulled the covers over the bed itself. At least it looked less messy even if it really wasn't because all he'd done was shuffle things out of sight. "Sorry I didn't really expect people over" he apologized.

| Still, he could at least make an effort not to look like a slob.
"Yeah well" he cleared his throat. "I... don't got a witty comeback or a good excuse" he chuckled, motioning towards the couch.

| He looked around for a moment before giving his shoulders a light hearted shrug and a smile. "The place came cheap" really, that's all there was to it. "And it's just me and eh, I'm not all that picky" he said. "At least it's specious?" Jack added with a bit of a smirk, it was the most positive thing he could think of to say about the place. | |

| "And it's cheap, did I mention that?" he laughed, moving over to fetch a couple of cups as the coffee finished brewing. "Really, I'm not picky. I get a place to sleep that's my own?" he shrugged. "Then I'm pretty much set" he smiled, pouring them each a cup. | |

| "Sometimes. I mean, I occasionally do. But I dunno" Jack picked up the coffee cups, offering one to her before moving to take a seat on the couch, leaving her free to choose where to sit. "I don't really plan all that far ahead. I'm one of those people who simply prefer to take things as they come and go with the flow" there was probably a reason for that. | |

| "Haven't got much family to be quite honest" he said as he rested his elbows on his knees, holding the cup in both hands. "Mom ran off with another man when I was twelve, and dad's too deep in the bottle to really care. mind you, I'm alright. I just don't spend much time around family because I never really had much of one" though he sounded alright with it. | |

| "Don't be" he smiled. "I'm not" nope, he was quite fine with things. After all, he was doing alright, so why dwell on the past. "Means I'm free to do what I want really" nothing to tie him down. | |

| His smile widened with the soft laughter. "Hey, you're right. I am a stray. And your dad sounds like a good man" he said, clearly taking no offence with what she'd said. "Besides, I think his daughter might be doing the same thing. Taking in strays I mean" | |
