"Okay.. anything I do for my faily here.. you get to know."

He smiled back to her. It was still awkward.

You have been taking care of everyone and still will be for a long time. Is there anything you need? Anything I can get you."

She sighed.

"Books."

He raised an eyebrow.

"What kinda books?"

"Non-fiction. Any non-fiction."

He thought.

"Any? Like that philosophy stuff? and textbooks, and biographies and stuff?"

"Any. All of it! I love to learn!"

"I know where I can get you some. I will bring you some the next time I come."

He shrugged and blushed a little.

"Its no big thing. They're just books. And you deserve something for yourself."

"good. I'm glad I can do something good for you."

"Okay. Shall we head downstairs and check on things?"

He smiled and nodded.

"Yeah."

There wasnt really that much to say and he wasnt one for wasting words. He had already saidmore with her than he usually did in a week.

She dropped his hands and headed for the door.

She led him down the stairs and into the kitchen.

He walked wit hehr, looking around to see whateveryone else was doing and just being. This was weird for him. But he did what he had to.

They were, simply put, at home. There was a group in a room telling stories. There was a group making midnight snack in the kitchen.

It wasnt the best smile, but he was getting better. And he didnt hide from the others.

She sat down at one of the tables, pulling out a notebook from her pocket.

"Now, what can we get for you?"

He blinked.

"What do you mean?"

She wrinkled her nose.

"You're doing so much for us. What can we do for you?"

"You are giving me family and someone to be with. For now that is enough. Someday I will need and I will let you know. It is what family does. One thing you can do is keep your ears open and your eyes peeled when you are out during the day. Notice things and practice listening to waht is around you. When you all get back, play a game, telling each otehr what you saw and hear. Take turns, everyone in a circle, even guards can play. everyone has to say something no one else knew. If you cannot, you are out.

The key to survival here is going to be being prepared and knowing what is going on."
