She took the drink gratefully. Funnily enough, she didn't even question him about whether it was tainted or untainted. For some reason, she did not seem to want to look at him for this particular set of events.

She didn't turn away from him - she simply averted her eyes from his face as she drank the blood he was offering to her. But she didn't seem to be bothering to heal any of the damage that had been done to her.

Outwardly, she seemed fine. Inwardly, it was hard to tell. She still spoke quietly, but it was very, very clear that something within her had completely changed.

"Thank you."

"Griselda." he said calmly. "This is why you were given a word to use."

Finally, she looked up at him.

"I was given a word to use if I couldn't handle something. I handled it fine. Besides, it's not like I've ever done this before." She shrugged, but smiled weakly. "It's not your fault. And, I'm fine."

He frowned. "I doubt at three of the things you just said."

She looked up at him, confused.

"Doubt what?"

He closed his eyes frowning. "What did it do to you?"

She shrugged, and smiled at him.

"Scared me, more than anything. Why?"

"I have never seen you like that before."

She blinked, then looked confused.

"What do you mean?"

"The way you retreated. Tell me what happened to you. Did I trigger your command?"

She shook her head.

"No, or you'd be at a loss as to how to stop it. You'd have to call James. But fear is an amazing thing. You didn't trigger it ... I was still afraid that you would."

He caressed her cheek. "And now you're fine."

She nodded at him and smiled.

"Yes, I'm fine now."

He caressed her cheek again, leaning in to kiss her. "I'm glad."

She lifted her chin, smiled as she kissed him gently.

"Good. And for future reference, you can't do anything to me that would make me hate you, or even upset me too greatly."

He raised an eyebrow. "You are so certain?"

She nodded, then shrugged.

"Yes. I'm sure there are things that you could do that would eventually make me hate you and distrust you. But it would likely take quite a lot. All things considered, you've made one hell of a first impression."

She shrugged again, smiled up at him.

"I'll talk to Ethan for you. But I wouldn't expect much of an answer. Sorry, but he isn't quite as forgiving as I am."
