She shook her head.

"No. At least, not entirely." She looked at him with another smile as she answered the question. "Joseph is the reason that I have such a tolerance for being broken, yes. He put me through probably more than you could ever conceive of, but that is a guess. But no, most of it is that I don't like to be broken. I don't mind people trying, I just usually don't break."

"I see. Could someone learn who you really were by trying?"

She shrugged.

"That ... is not something I know much about. The truth of it is, I suppose, that it depends on who is trying and how they try."

He touched her cheek now. "Did Joseph know who you were?"

She shook her head negatively.

"He was never interested in knowing me. He was only interested in owning me. The two are not the same."

He gave a thin smile. "And what do you suppose that I am interested in?"

Again, she shrugged. But she smiled when she did.

"I don't know yet. I don't presume to know the minds of others."

He withdrew a bit, but the smile did not change. "But you enjoy what I do to you."

Her eyes were amused while she smiled at him.

"What's not to enjoy?"

"Flattery, my dear, will get you everywhere." his nose wrinkled.

"Tell me truly, why did you agree to this?"

She smiled as his nose wrinkled. Even raised a hand to press one fingertip against the wrinkled nose gently. Then ... she just sighed.

"Because I wanted to. Because you do things to me that others refuse to do."

She nodded.

"Yes. Ethan. Among others."

"So. I was willing to take you. To lay claim to you."

She shook her head.

"No. You didn't seem to care about my clan at all."

"And because of that..." his fingertips traveled down her body. "... you've placed great trust in me."

She shrugged when she smiled.

"It deserves it. That little thing means a lot."

He smiled back, then leaned in and whispered. "I want you to kiss down my body. Slowly. And while you're doing that, I will decide whether or not to subject you to the whip."

She rose from where she lay. Back up into that sitting position, straddling him though she managed to not only not put any weight on him, but managed to not really touch him.

Her hair framed her face, then fell to brush against him lightly. She started at his head, taking her time about it, before she went lower, covering his neck and shoulders.

He bared his neck a bit, sighing. "Every inch, pet." he whispered.

She smiled. She wasn't leaving anything uncovered, nor was she in any rush. She went from his shoulders down one arm, then back up to the other arm, all before she trailed her way over his torso.

She wasn't looking at him.

That is, she wasn't looking at his face, anyway. She was concentrating her efforts on making sure that she didn't miss anything, did not miss any particular points on his body.

She was careful and slow, each move seeming deliberate. As she moved lower, she didn't seem able to resist spending a bit more time on the area that he'd used often to please her. She couldn't help smiling, either, as she actually took him in her mouth again for a few moments before continuing farther down his body.
