Mike walks over to her and lowers his head.

"I'm sorry."

She wraps him in her arms tightly.

"Don't blame yourself. I chose this."

Mike wraps his arms around her.

"I know you did. But I can help but still feel bad."

The man snorted.

"Come on, you two. Let's go."

Mike lets go and waits for her to lead the way.

She takes his hand in hers. She still hadn't gotten dressed. She nodded to the man to lead on.

They went out into the hall and down a hidden stair. Once in the basement, they entered an area with many iron cages that were held off the floor on three inch legs. There was a wooden floor on each of them, and the man lead them to the largest one, opening the door.

"In you go."

Mike walks into the cage. He turns and looks around the room.

She followed him unflinchingly into the cage, though she tried not to touch the edges. Immediately, she didn't look well.

"One week. I'll count the days."

The man nodded.

"It'll be fair. I've always been fair."

Mike walks over to her.

"Hang in there my love."

She curls into him, shivering.

"It's poison, love. This is only going to be worse."

Mike wraps his arm around her. He looks around the room waiting for them to be alone.

The man closed the door to the cage and locked it.

"Food for you two will be down once a day."

Then he turned and left.

Mike leans in close and whispers in her ear.

"Are we being watched at all while we are down here?"

She shakes her head.

"No. Why would they?"

Mike continues to keep his voice down with a serious look on his face.

"As your knight and you love. I can't stand to see you in pain like this. If I get us out of this cage. Can you get us out of this park? If yo can I can get us some where safe. I mean truly safe."

She shook her head.

"I can't get away. I'm sorry."

Mike lowers his head and kisses her.

"A week it is then."

She returns his kiss with passion, seeming to take solace in his presence.

Mike sits down on the floor and pulls her in even closer.

"If I'm correct the sun should be rising soon. Are you going to be ok with out me being awake?"

She smiles.

"I'll be fine. Really. And I will eat enough for you to be able to feed if you must."

"I should be ok for a couple of days without feeding."

She nods.

"Hold me?"

She sounds small. So very small. And she's so very pale already.

Mike wraps his arms around her holding her tight.

"I'm here for you and I'm not going anywhere with out you."

She curls into him, shivering, and doesn't say another word until he awakes the next night.
