He smiles. "Understood. I appreciate your concern for my safety."

She smiles.

"Well, if I'm going to keep you, I also need to keep you safe, don't I?"

"It is wise to protect one's investments." He smirks.

"And to use ones powers for good more at least as often as evil."

How she managed to pull off cute with her real face showing? Probably only because it was him.

"Anything in particular I need to do to maintain this gadget? Or to protect it? Avoid water, EMP, that sort of thing?"

She shook her head.

"That right there, is magic. You just need to have it on you, and I'll know where you are."

He raises an eyebrow with a half-smirk.

"I'd no idea you were such an accomplished sorceress, Raz0r."

She put a finger to her lips.

"Don't tell anyone. It's a secret."

A slight nod. "I shall guard it well. I must say it is pleasant to be appreciated in such a way."

She nodded.

"I like you, Porter. I do see us going places together."

He pauses, and then, quite genuine - "Thank you."

She reached up to put her hands behind his neck.

"You're very welcome."

His hands move very naturally to her hips.

"How did a flower such as yourself blossom in such a city? Ah, that's right... you're a transplant." He smiles.

She nods.

"I was planted in Seattle, but bloomed in LA."

"'Tis a long and winding road. I'm just glad our paths crossed eventually."

She leaned up on her tip toes to rest her forehead against his.

"As am I. It has been a long time since I have felt free to be myself, completely, around another."

"How shameful that our kin could not make you comfortable."

She sighed.

"It's not entirely their fault. But I am surrounded by paranoia."

"Caution is a stout castle wall to protect the treasure within. Paranoia is forgetting about the treasure and focusing on that wall."

He smirks. "I've no intention of neglecting treasures."

She chuckled softly.

"And what do you consider treasure?"

"Bright, curious, radiant, loving souls. All else crumbles to dust - and nothing perishable can have lasting value."

She smiled.

"Can these bright curious loving souls be a little twisted inside?"

He smirks. "That covered under the 'curious' bit, I wager."

"Oh good."
