| "Everyone judges, whether or not they mean to, whether or not they're aware" it was just how it was. "The biggest difference is whether or not that judgment is set in stone" she paused. "Besides. You're family to Medwyn and Chase's lover. That trumps girlfriend and apprentice" they both knew that. | |

| She hated that word. 'Lover.' Not that Teddy would have known that about her -- not that even Chase knew that about her. It cheapened her, made her feel like... well, it made her feel like a common whore. And she was neither common, nor a whore. She swallowed the disgust that rose up when Teddy called her Chase's lover -- primarily because it wasn't Teddy's fault. She didn't particularly have a word that she would rather be called when it came to the relationship between herself and Chase, but that word, that one word -- lover -- wasn't it. She took a moment, a deep breath that she may not have needed. Then she nodded.
"Sometimes they do. Some don't. Whether or not I judge you doesn't mean that I have a right to. The difference isn't whether the judgment is set in stone, Teddy. It's whether someone cares enough -- one way or another -- to actually vocalize the opinions that they have." She shrugged again. "I tend to keep my opinions of most people to myself. It doesn't do anyone any good to hear anything but empirical facts, so I stick to that. And if you actually think that about Medwyn or Chase, you don't know either of them very well. They would both die for me. At least for you, they'll make sure you don't die. There's a very big difference in that alone."

| "You're right, I don't know Chase very well. I'm trying to learn, but I can't read him. At all..." half the time it was difficult to know what he expected of her or what his reaction would be when she opened her mouth. And Medwyn... I know him less and less every night. But I didn't say it thinking that's how he felt, I just think that you, as his family, has every right to have an opinion about who he's with" the blonde shrugged lightly. "You care about him, that matters a lot to me" because he deserved having people who loved him. "Anyway.. I talk and I end up stuffing ny foot in my mouth. It's public knowledge... So don't listen too much to what I say. What I say and what I mean is rarely that well translated" she gave a small smile. | |

| She shook her head.
"I don't think we're speaking the same language here. No offense. Both Medwyn and Chase are grown-ass men. They can make their own decisions and it's not for me to say, one way or the other, that it is a good or bad idea unless I am asked. Who I care about shouldn't matter -- because you don't know what my motivations to care might be."

| Yeah, she ought to just shut up now before the redhead got angry with her. Again. So she just nodded. It was better that way, and she'd already wasted the Sheriff's time, and without any real results. She could only speak with Odessa now, and that would be it. That would be the extent of what she could do. | |

| The redhead didn't look angry. There was another flash in her eyes of envy -- then one of sadness -- before her face went back to its normal, placid expression.
"Anyway. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help."

| She had no clue how to react to that. Not one bit. "Not your fault" the blonde said quietly. | |

| She shrugged.
"No, it isn't. that doesn't mean that I'm not sorry I couldn't be more helpful."
On that score, she was. She was very sorry that there just wasn't anything that could be done.

| "You talked to me" really, it was more than both Jamie and Medwyn would give her at this stage. And while there were things she wondered, things she wanted to ask and say and yeah, those things didn't matter one bit anymore. Because to the blonde the only thing with importance right now, was the safety and the heart of her love. Her one and only. And while Griselda didn't like the word "lover", Teddy did. She loved it when he called her that. | |

| She shrugged one shoulder.
"Talk is cheap. It's the actions that matter. And on this one, I'm useless."

| Her too. But that was hardly news. "I hope things work out for you" a barely there nod of her head indicating the direction in which she'd noticed the stalker. It was obvious she wasn't going to waste more of the redhead's time. | |

| She smiled and shrugged.
"It happens. Have a good night, Teddy."

| "You too" she... would stay there a little while longer, holding onto a precious memory. | |

| She turned back to her car, climbing in the driver's seat and pulling away from the beach without a care in the world. | |

| And the blonde stayed where she was, looking at the ocean.
