Save him (Griselda) - Bathtub Beach

She stared at the blonde for a full minute before she said or did anything else. There was an odd look in her eyes -- envy -- that was gone just a few moments after it had appeared. It was subtle, so very subtle. Almost like it wasn't there at all. Only those paying close attention to her would have even seen the brief flash of emotion from the small redhead, who kept her emotions locked up tighter than a virgin on prom night.

She offered the blonde a smile.

"Anything else I can do for you?"

Locked up tight indeed. But the look was so very different from anything the redhead had ever given her that it was hard to miss. And let's face it, the only one she was looking at at the moment was Griselda, and no one else. So as the redhead had her full attention...

"Did I say something wrong..?" Teddy asked quietly. It wasn't an apologetic tone per say, more confused, maybe curious, as she searched the redhead's eyes for an answer.

It was there again. Just another flash of envy before the redhead shook her head and played with her hands in her pockets for a few minutes.

"No. Not at all. Why?"

"You gave me a look..." and while she wasn't sure what exactly that look was, it had been there.

She blinked.

"I did?"

Maybe she didn't notice. Maybe having a stalker made her not notice the little things quite as much. At least she was honestly confused this time.

"Yes... I don't know what but... there was something" and it had her confused as well, obviously.

She made an odd face, one of confusion and resignation.

"I have no idea. If I did, I'd tell you. Sorry?"

"No, sorry, my fault" she shook her head, "I was probably just seeing things. And nagging again..." he'd said she nagged so, that was probably it. "Never mind me, I'm probably just off"

She smiled.

"It's okay... I think you've got a right to be a little off."

"I know I ask a lot... I haven't been able to offer anything in return that's worthwhile, but, can I ask that this stays between us? Please?" Teddy brushed her fingers along the dog tags again in a subconscious gesture that told anyone looking just how precious they were to her.
"He's already angry with me. I don't want to anger him further..."

She nodded.

"Sure, Teddy. It can stay between us."

She actually meant that. Secrets. She could keep secrets.

"Thank you" she looked down at the tags and smiled. It was a bit broken, but there was something in her eyes when she looked at those seemingly mundane things that spoke volumes of their meaning. "Thank you.." she repeated and nodded.

She smiled.

"No problem. I wish you the best of luck -- I'm sorry that I couldn't help more."

She paused... then turned to look at her.

"You know... you might want to talk to Odessa about it. She might know something about how to help him."

Did she know? She probably did.

"Don't you think Jamie would've asked her if that was an option..?" maybe?

She shook her head.

"No. Jamie is stupidly, head-over-heels for her. He wouldn't think to ask her about it because he wouldn't want to overwhelm her. It's just how he is."

The blonde looked at her, truly just looked as if looking could help her figure things out.
"I'll ask..." she said after a few moments. "Just.. if he ends up hating me for it" Teddy managed another slightly broken smile, though it held hope. It always did. "Make sure he finds something in his life that will make him smile? He has such a good smile.." oh, oh really did. The look in her eyes was one of adoration just at the thought of it.

She nodded, though she didn't return the smile.

"Medwyn has always gone his own way. He'll find something that makes him smile."

"Yeah..." Teddy nodded. "Yeah" fuck. At some point she wished she would stop being useless to everyone. At some point, she would be able to do something to help the people she loved.

She shrugged.

"There's only so much any of us can really do."

"I know.. but not trying at all feels wrong too" she hoped she understood.

She nodded.

"Maybe. But sometimes it is better to do nothing if the alternative is that you are making things worse."

"I can't make things worse by asking Odessa to speak with Jamie... Can I?" it was obvious the blonde was at the end of her rope. "I c... I can't..." she fell silent covering her eyes with her hand for a few moments.

She shook her head.

"No, probably not. Odessa's honest enough; she'll tell you if it can't be done. At most, Jamie will frown at you for adding another burden to his wife -- but he would do that if you asked her to take a walk and pick some wildflowers with you. Really, you're fine."

Quite often it simply felt as if Jamie would've preferred she wasn't there at all, so what did another frown matter?
"I'll talk with her. And sorry for this. You shouldn't need to listen to me rant. I apologize" of all people, not her.

She shrugged one shoulder.

"It's not my place to judge you or your motivations or actions. Chase says you're one of his people. I don't have much right to bitch, if you think of it that way."
