| She took the envelope and rifled through it. Elizabeth would have gotten the impression that she wasn't really counting it, just making it look like she might be.

| She nodded and got into the cab of the truck and pulled away. It was time to go home.
When she got there, she wrestled the clock out of the back, onto a hand cart, and rolled it into the house. Right into her room. She unwrapped it, and then tried to feel if anyone had followed it home with her. | |
