I hate asking favours (Sebastian) - Creator's Workshop

"Diego?" He shook his head, taking another sip of tea. "You have a cat or is it a dog?"

"Neither" she chuckled softly as she nodded towards the floor at his feet where, at the moment, stood a small teddy bear that tilted its head to the side and blinked with button eyes up at the Ghoul.
"I have a teddy bear"

"Oh," he chuckled. "Did you make him?"

"Yeah... toymaker, remember?"

The bear slowly tilted his head to the other side, then, actually did a small awkward bouncing move and tugged at Sebastian' pant leg.

"Just that some of the toys I make are... special"

The ghoul jumped a little and looked down, blinking at the toy with an expression of wonderment.

"Good Lord... It's like Teddy Ruxpin..."

"Diego's better" Teddy smiled at him. "Pick him up, he like sitting on the table"

"Likes it?"

Oh... that was something different to say about a toy. Sebastian scooted his cup back onto the counter a little and then bent over to grab the little bear and carefully set him on the table.

Diego, when put down, took a moment or two more to stare at him, blinked once more with button eyes that shouldn't be able to blink. And then, like a slightly clumsy three year old, pushed himself up onto his stubby little legs with the help of his paws.

"Yeah.." Teddy leaned forward, enough so she could rest her chin on her arms as they rested flat on the table.

Meanwhile, Diego, having regained his balance, proceeded to walk over to Sebastian's tea cup an leaned over to peek down into it curiously.

"Teddy.... How did he blink?" he was pointing at Diego, a little mystified as he watched. This was... very different.

"Mmm, that would ruin a bit of the magic wouldn't it?" she smiled at him as the bear, having checked out the tea cup decided to rummage through the remaining tea bags, grabbing a cinnamon one with both paws and holding it over his nose as if smelling it.
Mmmm, cinnamon.

"But... He's not alive, right?" Poor, poor ghoul... He was trying to understand even as he watched Diego's every move. He wasn't frightened by Diego at all. Just confused.

Diego sat back down, kinda, he more or less just fell onto his behind and held the tea bag by the string, waving it around like a kid with a toy.

"No, he's not truly alive. He's..." Teddy chewed on her lip. "I could say he doesn't have a soul, but I believe he does. In his own way, though a "mere" construction created by my hand, I think he has life in him..." she paused, looking at him. "Doesn't make sense, does it? To clarify though, there's no voodoo or magic, or souls bound in blood or anything. He is, when it comes down to it, just a toy"

Just a toy, that currently looked like a three year old playing with a tea bag as if the most fascinating toy ever invented.

Wheeeee!

"So with all of the horrible, blood curdling things I've been told vampires can do, you do something like this," he started to laugh, just a little, touching Diego's foot with a finger gently. "I think it's... amazing."

Hm? Touching? Was he playing? He got "smacked" if you can call it that, with the tea bag.
Diego was easily entertained.

"I thought you already knew? I'm a shit vampire" the blond laughed.

"If it's any consolation, I'd be a shit vampire, too," Sebastian smiled, pulling his hand away after the smack and then poking him with a spoon.

Smack, smack, smack, ops, flying tea bag! Clumsy coordination could do that to a bear's toys, but he didn't seem to mind as he clapped his hands excitedly and wiggled his stubby legs there he sat before trying to catch the spoon he was being poked with.

"I like you as you are" no need to take the leap to the dead side unless there was a good reason for it.

"As do I. But you never know what will happen," he poked Diego's belly. "I can't imagine most kindred expected that they would be turned, you know?"

"Mm, I dunno" Teddy said as Diego wrapped his arms around his stomach as ticklish and giggling while he fell over sideways. "Some spend time as a Ghoul before they are turned. It's not uncommon to have served before being Embraced since, at least in the Camarilla, you're not allowed to Embrace someone without permission from the Prince. And well, Embracing someone who has no friggin' clue is generally a bad idea"

"No, I understand that," he nodded. "But it still wouldn't surprise me. But... then again, isn't that what an Accounting is for?"

"Not everyone are able to handle the Embrace equally good. The Accounting is not only to make sure you know what to do and what not to do, but to make sure you can handle yourself as well Teddy shrugged her shoulders lightly, while Diego rolled over onto his stomach and proceeded to push himself up onto his feet again so he could wander over to the flowers and stare in an "oooooh" sort of way.
"I was never under anyone's Accounting... maybe that's why I failed .." the sentence kind of trailed off before she shook her head, not wanting to revert to her miserable thoughts. "Never mind"

He wanted to ask, but... well, he thought better of it. "I hate to see you so beat down. So convinced you've failed in some way. I think the only thing you've failed at is being a bloodsucking savage."

"I..." shouldn't place her problems on the shoulders of her friends. It wasn't fair to them...

"I made some cupcakes yesterday, I'll get you one" it was such a blatant way of distracting herself more than him as she moved to get up, anyone would've been able to see that.

"We still have cake coming out of our ears," he smiled. "But I wouldn't turn a cupcake down."

He wasn't going to push since she seemed reticent to talk about it.

She'd just break again. And no one needed that. Certainly not him.

The blond got up from her seat and move to fetch a tray of colourful cupcakes while Diego fetched a flower from the vase and proceeded to try and nudge Sebastian's nose with it.

"Here" she put the tray down in front of Sebastian with a soft smile. "Given, they'd taste better right out of the oven, but I think they're still good"

"Thanks, they look tasty," he smiled and then sneezed as the flower was put up to his nose. Though he had the forethought to cover his mouth and nose with his hand and quietly apologized to... well... the bear.
