Such a short time to a Kindred, and yet, a month.... had turned out to be an eternity she'd barely managed to endure.
A month apart.
Sure, she'd seen him. But, for a month, their home had been quiet, their bed cold. She'd slept on the sofa and there didn't seem to be any change to that happening anytime soon.
The blond still cried. Still hurt. Still felt alone, even with friends who looked after her.
Outwardly, she tried, really tried to fake it and in some cases she managed. But in others?
She sat in the corner of the red sofa, blanket wrapped around her.
A month...
A month without his closeness. A month knowing he was just beyond her reach.
Heavens it hurt. The slow and lingering heartache... pain that just wouldn't fade, wouldn't leave her alone. The uncertainty. No one had said anything, told her anything. She was completely in the dark. And in the dark? Well, she just curled up in the dark, and tried to hide from her own conscience, knowing it would do her no good to even try.
