New Friends - Grendel's Cave (Shauna/Grace)

It was just after sunset when the cacophony started.  It was s series of loud, demanding, meows from the front door.

Cinder roused Shauna from her sleep when the mewing began. She woke up turned blinked and stared at the dog. "That the hell?" She said getting up grabbing a robe and wrapping it around her pulling her red hair back into the twist as she walked out to the front of the house. "Cats?" She said looking out the front window at her stoop the yard and the street.

Shauna went to the door and opened it allowing the cats inside. She also shut the door behind them rather quickly and told the dog to 'Behave". She had no idea how the cats might respond to the dog but the dog would respond well to the cats since she was trained to respond well to any animal that was not a threat.

She eyed each in turn for injury and collar and...fleas as she handled them. "Ohhh someone sent you. Someone who knows I like kitties..." She muttered as she pet each in turn. "And someone who knows I'm a softee... who sent you here?" She looking to see if there was any sign of a note or explanation.

She sat down on the floor among them and picked up her cell phone placing a call to the Regency and hoping to get Lady Grace's office... "Hello?"

Phone: "Ye've reach Lady Dunn's office."

It's her voice and accent all right.

"Lady Grace I have three gorgeous cats all around me. I met this Tabby cat recently. Do you happen to know her and are these friends of hers by chance?" Shauna was trying not to laugh hold the phone and pat three cats with two hands...failing miserably.

The smile was heard in her voice.

"Aye, lass. They be friends o' hers. They be in need o' a good home, an' nay be thrivin' in th' wild. Think ye can take care o' tha'?"

"Love to! But the Tabby cat needs to come for a visit soon." She said quietly. "They also seem to like Cinder which is glorious." Was there a sniff on the line there...could it be? Naw of course not. Hard nosed inspector... bah humbug and all that jazz. "Names?' Shauna asked as she eyed them up trying to check their eyes and ears... the medic in her coming out.

"Up t' ye. An' I'll come by soon."

"Thank you. Thank you sooo much." Shauna said as she scooped two into her lap and snuggled them half the thank you being muffled by fur. The third not to be left out joined the others in her lap a second later so fingers could reach across three backs for a moment. "Really soon please. This name thing is gonna take some time."

Cinder came over and laid down behind Shauna and licked one of the cats. "You better help me name them Cinder." Shauna left the line open so Grace could hear the animals being introduced to each other and how it was going. "I think this is going to be great. Cinder gets lonely sometimes when we are both on shift and she's not... Thank you again."

She laughed.

"I ha' some time. I'll be there in a few minutes. Open a window."

"Absolutely." She said and shut down the phone standing up around the cats and opened the big window on the side of the house mostly in the shadows from the lamplight's.

It was just a few minutes later when the great horned owl flew in the window and landed on the floor, turning into Grace.

"Evenin' Lass."

Shauna looked up saw the owl blinked like one at it and when it turned she stood up walked over and for just a moment hugged Grace. "Thank you." Stepping back the eyes were definitely misty in red. "Can I get you anything?" Shauna trying to also make it a proper visit gesturing to a chair for her to sit in if she didn't chose the well cleaned floor.

She shook her head, then went about the business of greeting the dog. Because that was important.

Cinder was all right and proper even for a dog. She took the greeting and returned it with a happy tail wag and a sniff and check out moment. She was all bitch and all in control until a cat strayed nearby...it got a lick at its ear for its trouble much to the cats chagrin.

Lady Grace also got one when she wasn't particularly paying attention to Cinder.

She smiled, then moved to sit in one of the chairs.

"So, ye like th' company I sent ye?"

Shaun nodded taking a seat and facing Grace. "Very much a huge surprise." Cinder laid at her feet a claimed paw over her right foot as if to say you can't get up without me knowing. "I'm sorry but i really did think you were a wild but trained kitty out there. I was embarrassed and well...upset. I've never known a Gangrel to do the domesticated animal and... well wild domestic cats are a long ago story with me. She had eyes for all three as they moved round checking out their new house and claiming the water bowl Cinder used.

She nodded.

"I'm sorry for tha'. But I hope this makes up for't. I d' th' domestic 'cause I spend so much time in th' city. One can get more places as a Tabby than one can as a panther."

"It more than makes up for it." Shauna said. "In fact it completes a circle a long standing circle and leaves it with a much better ending. If you want I'll tell you what happened. The least I can do to help you to understand what you have really done here for me."

She smiles.

"I enjoy stories."
