Contacting the God Squad - Demon + Carnival - Ren

Intel...Ren needed intel. On the Demons. On the Carnival. Maybe the God Squad knew something.

She'd try contacting Abraham and Gideon first (being the two I have previous scenes with).

"I was wondering if you had heard about the two major problems plaguing Port Saint Lucie."

"That depends upon your definition of 'major problems,' Renata."

Ren laughed softly. She was certain Abraham could easily come up with a dozen or so major problems...several would likely be people Ren knew. A few would even be those she was close to. She knew she couldn't avoid that forever, but for now she'd try to stay focused on what she had called about. "The demons that currently plague this place, and the Carnival...I'm looking for any information at this point." From the sound of it, she had very little.

The laugh was soft and deep. Though the man had no true reason to laugh. Demons, after all, were nothing to laugh about.

"What is your questions? I cannot just start spouting information, Renata. We would be here for decades."

"What are the best methods for combating them?" Standard methods were said not to work, maybe the Faithful had other ways.

"There is no good way to combat them, Renata. The Circus is more powerful than any creature on this world or any other. The only thing to do with such a thing is to survive it. If you somehow manage to strike at the heart of the Circus, and that would be at Cavendish, then you may hurt it,put a dent in its defenses for a while. But even then, there is no defeat for it. For there are three main sources of power for the thing, all of which are more powerful than most Kindred or any other creature, alive or dead."

"And what are the three sources of power?" She wasn't crazy enough to attack it, but knowing what they were up against might help.

"Cavendish is the ringmaster. He is, I believe they are called, a Mage. But he is not weak. As for the three, I'm not entirely certain what or who they are, other than that they have been referred to as the Infernal Trinity. They are each more powerful than a good group of Kindred, and they have the power of evil to make up for what they cannot do themselves."

"I fear we have at least one group of people who are planning to head in..." Her twin desires were at war. She wanted to defend the people who resided in her Domain, but she also wanted to see the worst of them destroyed. It was a complicated feeling.

"Not my curiosity, no. There are those I wish to protect, but if they lack even the most basic sense of self-preservation, then my efforts would likely be wasted even if I was successful."

"The issue is that you cannot be successful in this, Renata. This Circus, this entity, is not a beatable thing. For centuries, the Order has tried to combat it. Do you truly believe you will succeed where hundreds have failed? And not just hundreds going against the entity solo, but grouped together, in rank and file. Your best hope is to try and convince them that the attempt is foolish, but to try and fight it is suicide."

"Which is why I'm asking for information. Not because I want to go charging in, but because there are those here who do and I am fairly certain that saying 'hey, it's dangerous' isn't going to be enough to stop them. But maybe having some real information, some solid information, might at least make them listen."

"Plus the damned thing is kidnapping people. I'd like to know how to defend myself if I end up sucked into it because some other foolish and arrogant person turned its attention in my direction." It was a valid concern.

"To clear up any misconceptions, no, I do not want to visit it. I want nothing to do with it, but if it comes after me I'd like to be as prepared as possible. That's all." She wasn't that crazy.

"The problem with being informed is that it poses a whole new danger, Renata. By having the solid information to pass along, to say 'there are three and the ringleader is a mage' means very, very little. It just instills a sense of false confidence in those who would try to attack this thing. They have a sense that with a little bit of information will give them even more reason to go rushing to their deaths."

"Your best option is to not get mixed up in it at all, if you can help it. Barring that, the only suggestion that I have for you is to hold tight to your Faith. The Carnival is powered by demons, and the only thing that can possibly combat that is God."

"No. A demon is a demon is a demon. Whether they are a fallen angel or not, the fact is that a demon has been banished from Heaven for a reason. As such, they are not welcome in Heaven, into God's arms, anymore."
