Marvin sat in his obsessively well organized office, relaxing for a moment with a book on advanced chemistry, three different programs and operating systems viewable on three different monitors around him.

There was a light rapping at his door.

Marvin opened the door shortly thereafter, brushing a stray hair from his face back into place.

"Good evening Sheriff, please come in." he said, ushering her in. "I've got the voice recognition software done, figured to get a head start on it learning your voice."

She laughed.

"Okay. What, do you need me to do a reading of War and Peace or something?"

"I need it to learn your voice print, specifically a list of these commands" he said while passing her a list of the commands for the car, while stepping into his study.

"Have a seat" he said pointing to a computer with a microphone in front of it. "Also, do you want a male or female voice, and you can give the computer a name as well. Right now, this is just the voice interface, I'm working on the brains of the system next."

She took the list and sat down, looking over it.

"Female voice. Something sexy. I'll think of a name shortly."

"I'll come up with several voices for you in a couple of days to approve, unless you have one you like already. I was thinking about cloning Marylin Monroe's voice though."

She rolled her eyes.

"Soooo very cliche. Now, something like Catherine Zeta-Jones' voice, on the other hand, isn't."

He shrugged. "No problem. I'll work on that. Tell me how is celeste doing and remind me again how I managed to lose her. ?". He didn't sound angry. Maybe a little hurt though it was hard to tell. "

"She's doing fine and because she didn't really want to be with you." It may have been harsh, but why lie to the guy?

"Hopping around until she found someone powerful who wouldn't torment her? Since whendud a ghoul get that choice ?"

"Since the ghoul was unbondable, needed a firm hand, and the domitor she was handed to let her run amok and get taken in by a Caitiff."

She looked up.

"You couldn't handle her, Marvin."

"I. Was. Staked. I even sent mercy after her. And a simple word she's as good as bound. I am again what I was before the week of madness. "

She rolled her eyes.

"Marvin! She once staked a Kindred and wandered around impersonating him for months! You. Can't. Handle. Her."

"And u took over missile guidance and launch codes for the nukes on a soviet kilo class sub once. Big deal. But mostly I wanted to know what was going in. "

She actually rose and dropped the list on his desk.

"I don't know why I bother. You don't listen to me, at any point, ever."

She turned and headed for the door.

"Goodbye, Marvin."

And out she went, closing the door behind her. Soooo not in the mood.

The text that showed on her phone was simple.

I said I just wanted to know. Not get her back. The matter is closed.

The answering text was a little longer, but just as simple.

This is no less than the fifth time that you've asked something and wanted to argue when I have explained it to you. I am done.
