She smiled.

"I lost the world up there. I will never be back."

"I'm not sure I could either. Maybe for Mat..."

"What happened to you up there?" She'd been curious...so many people seemed to have come through that place.

She gave a big sigh.

"The only man I will ever love was killed."

She blinked. "Oh, Raz0r...I'm so sorry." She hadn't lost her compassion. She ached for the brightly colored Nos.

She smiled.

"Thanks. I'm...surviving. I've watched every person involved in his death die."

Something changed in her expression. It was only a moment before it passed, but it was there. "I imagine there is a certain satisfaction in that."

She nodded.

"Yes, there was."

The next question was likely somewhat strange, but she was the curious sort. "How do you know he's the only man you'll ever love?" Truly it could have seemed a rude or possibly even a challenging thing to ask, but the tone and the strangely child-like expression said that she was trying to understand the emotion itself, not call into question the person who felt it.

She smirked.

"Because he's the man that taught me that love is a trap. One that allows someone else to call the shots in your life. And so, I will only love him. For he is safe to love."

That made sense, at least to Ren. "I'm used to hearing people say that you can't help who you love."

"I like your way better."

She nodded.

"Choose who to give your loyalty to. Love is....the biggest trap of all. And I refuse to fall into it again."

"Part of me wonders what it's like. Closest thing I ever had was the Blood Bond and that was just...awkward."

She smiled.

"It's the most wonderful feeling in the world. And when you lose it, it's the absolute worst feeling ever. So no, I don't recommend it. But I don't think less of people who do fall in love."

"I don't think I can." Several emotions tried to play across her face at once. She looked adorably confused. "I suppose it's more of a blessing than a curse in the long run. I've never felt it, so I don't miss it."

She nods.

"Probably. Blood bonds are actually safer than love."

"How?"

She snorted.

"There's something you can fight against with time and will. You can't fight against love."

She fell silent again as she processed the information. "I never looked at it like that."

She chuckled.

"Not many do. I have experience with both."

"Thank you." She suddenly felt a lot less broken.

She grinned.

"No problem."

The bright little Nos had managed to help Ren far more than Ren realized for the moment. Sometimes, He provided just what was needed.

"I think that's it for business, at least on my end." She smiled.

"Good."

She smiled.

"So how was your trip?"

"Wasn't bad. Got to see my family, and my Sire." She was genuinely fond of hers. "Did some traveling after that."

"Family is always good. I hope they were well."
