He looked up from his perch of the wiring of the stove, actually finishing his working of the wires before answering. He stood up and turned to look at her. His smile, always peaceful, was for her.

"Hello, Renata."

"I do." She said to the big Gangrel.

"It's good to see you again." Her words for the man who seemed to have a knack for finding her.

"Ah, good. Means ah don't need teh toss'em overboard den." as he just picked up the stove, starting to move it towards the stairs and not bowl over Duckie in the process.

He tilted his head while he smiled at her.

He gave her a curious look, his head tilting quizzically to one side.

"Why would I leave? My work here is not yet complete."

His smile was gentle.

"He is persuasive to those who fear pain or death. For me, both are old friends. The forces of evil will not deter me from my duty to you, Renata, no matter what method is attempted."

She looked at him, her expression full of gratitude, hope, and no small amount of joy. "I am happy, and honored, that you are still here."

He smiled at her, holding out one hand toward her as if to bring her close for an embrace.

"Little Renata, did I not vow to you that I would be here for you? For as long as God wills?"

He wrapped strong arms around her, hugging her close.

"When will you learn to trust me, Renata?"

She leaned her head gently against his shoulder. "Trust is difficult for me." She admitted.

He hadn't gone, hadn't left her on her own. He was earning it. The fact that she so easily went into his arms said as much.

His hand ran over her hair as he hugged her. Likely the first time in a long time, the embrace of the man who held her was chaste. He didn't pull her tightly against him, didn't hold her in a way that suggested he was anything more than ... well, a father.

"But you trust in the Lord. And He speaks for me. I will not leave unless He wills it so."

He smiled and ran his hand over her hair. Affectionately, as one might a child. In fact, he did see her as a child, but without the negative connotations of such a thing. She was to be taught God's Will and God's Way, and in that, she was a child, whether she was six or sixty.

"I should think that it will take a great amount of time for God to will such a thing, Renata."

That made her happy.

"I am curious...about how you alway seem to know where I am." That should have frightened her. It didn't. It was actually something of a comfort.

"God saw fit to grant me many gifts. One of those gifts is sight, to see where you always are."

"Darling little Renata. Just assume that I am always watching over you. If something that you wish I did not see happens, say so. I will hear you. God grants me the powers to be in many places and see what needs to be seen."
