His hand closed around the collar protectively. She could have seen it, how careful he was with the jewelry in his hand. Just as gently, he slipped his fangs into her throat. Not for long, really -- enough to taste her without weakening her. Enough to cause him to growl a little and grip her just a bit more tightly.

Slowly, he closed the little wounds in her throat and held her against him. "You taste divine, Elizabeth. Fresh and sweet. And... new."

Her tears slowed as the feeling coursed through her. They stopped when he grew so very possessive of her.

"Thank you."

His grip in her hair grew a little more gentle. Yes, he was possessive, but he was also... careful.

"You don't have to do anything that you do not want to do Elizabeth. For a time, you will have a bit of leeway."

She nodded.

"There is nothing I will not do. Simply allow me the day to come to terms with this. All of us must make adjustments."

He nodded and kissed her shoulder gently.

"I need to explain to Savannah as well. She'll likely be a bit cranky."

She nodded.

"Of course."

He laughed softly. Very softly.

"I should show you the rest of the house. And the room that will be yours."

She nodded.

"As you wish."

He smiled and took her hand -- her collar still in the other one.

"It's right down the hall from mine, here. You can come be with me any time you wish."

She followed meekly, nodding with a smile.

"And I may do as I wish to the room? I like...sleeping in bars."

He smiled at that.

"You may. If you like, I can get a cage for you."

She made a sound of pleasure.

"That would be perfect."

He smiled.

"Then I will get two. One for your room and one to put in mine. Just for you."

Her cheek met his shoulder as she crept closer.

"I would like that."

His fingers moved up to her cheek.

"And what else would you like, Elizabeth?"

"Books. To read and to write in. So much comes to me, and it is best to write it down."

He nodded at that with another smile.

"Then books, you shall have. More than you know what to do with."

She nodded.

"That is all, for now. I will bring my dolls and my kitten tomorrow."

He smiled at that and nodded.

"That sounds lovely. Would you like to come into my room? Snuggle a bit and tell me more about you?"

She hesitated, then nodded.

"Yes."

He smiled and took her hand, leading her back toward his bedroom. First things first -- the collar went very carefully into a drawer in a desk that he locked -- to keep it safe. Then he moved to the bed, leaning back against the pillow and held out his arms for her to join him.

"How old are you? Really?"

She moved to rest her head on his chest, one are under his back, the other resting around his waist.

"I have forgotten the day, but the year was 1862."

He wrapped his arms comfortably around her.

"And you've always belonged to Chet?"

Somehow, he found that difficult to believe.

She shook her head.

"You are my sixth."

He sighed softly.

"Hopefully, six will be your lucky number. I know it is mine."
