She sighed.

"For a true submission that you say you speak there must be time. Time to learn and grow and truly know one another. I am not one of your lackeys who will bend and break at your every whim. You may be the most pleasing man I have ever met, but that does not mean that I will surrender all of myself to you just because you wish it. It is unhealthy, and unsafe. You know nothing of me, sweetling."

He nodded. "But you submit I would know more of you if I gave myself to you?"

She shook her head.

"I do not know you well enough to answer that question truthfully. I do not know."

"But you seem to find the idea appealing." he leaned in and kissed her softly.

She smiled.

"Of course I do. I have a dominant personality."

He laughed, as Esmeralda returned. She held a bowl in her hands that clearly held more massage oil.

"Very well. I am yours within the confines of this room. How would you command me... mistress?"

She smiled.

"First of all. Simply relax. Calm yourself. There is time yet."

"As you will, m'lady." he simply grinned at her, expectantly.

She smiled.

"Tell me about yourself."

He smiled. "There is little enough to tell. I was born and embraced in what is now a part of Greece. For the most part, I've traveled for much of my nocturnal existence, and I have managed to amass certain means. I came to this city from London. It was a splendid city, but there was less opportunity with so many elders."

She lifted a brow.

"Your goal is to become powerful?"

"My goal is to be able to pursue my interests without becoming too entangled in the plots of those more potent than myself."

He gave her a wry grin. "With perhaps one exception, I've had success in doing that here."

She smiled.

"Are you a member of the Camarilla?"

He chuckled. "Not formally. But Prince Alexander has granted me acceptance. As did Queen Anne before him."

She turned to rise above him on all fours.

"Yet you wish to gain power and not anger any elders."

He grinned up at her. "I wish you survive and enjoy my existence."

She ran her body along his.

"What do you consider to be enjoyable?"

He moaned softly. "Surely, you've developed some idea."

She smiled again.

"I have developed an idea that you enjoy sex. Nothing else?"

His eyes glowed up at her. "Like I said. I want to feel your soul and spirit. You show me what that means."

She shook her head.

"No. You are deflecting. What is it that you enjoy?"

"I am serious. What are the fault lines to pleasure and pain on a psyche? What gives them relief, pleasure, torment? What is their breaking point? What is the architecture that defines their existence? All of it fascinates me. These other things..." he gestures around the pleasure chamber. "They are simply tools."

She leaned down to press her lips against his shoulder.

"So you wish to unlock the secret of the mind."

He smiled at the kiss on his body. "Nay, the spirit. The mind can be rational, analytical. The spirit, however, can find a greater truth, so its secrets are far more impressive."

She ran her tongue over his throat.

"I see. So you wish to gaze at one's spirit."
