Where do I stand? (McKay) - Sunflower Beach

She'd at least moved the blankets and pillows aside so it didn't look like she was sleeping in the living room. The Caitiff, for now, just waiting there she sat, watching the ferrets fool around with a torn piece of fabric that was apparently the best thing ever.

For the first time in his adult life, he wasn't late. He knocked on the door in thirteen minutes.

That was... unexpected actually. Though she'd heard the vehicle pull up so she was at the door shortly after he knocked.
"Hey" she even offered him a smile as she held the door open for him. "I'm sorry, I hope you weren't busy"

He shook his head. "Duty calls, I answer it." He looked around before he stepped inside. "What's this happy horse shit?"

Teddy closed the door behind them, motioning for him to follow her to the living room though for once not stressing he take his boots off.
"I was informed yesterday, by miss Areron, that if she could gather the support of four Primogens she would be made Harpy. Since I haven't heard anything from Jamie on the matter, I'm guessing he supports her in this which means I'm on pretty thin ice" she said softly. Offering him a seat. "But contrary to popular beliefs, I'm not ready to roll over and play dead in this case"

He was polite and took his boots off anyway. He remembered the housewarming party. Then he took a seat. "You haven't talked ta Jamie about it yet, though?"

"No. Priority has been to speak with the Primogens" she said. "I would've thought he would've informed me himself of this, but... No I haven't had time to speak with him when I have Miss Areron gunning for my position and already telling Primgoens that "I am falling out of favour" as it were" the blond sat down, her lap instantly occupied by one of two ferrets. This one was mostly white.

His brow rose. "What makes ya think she's tellin' people that?"

"Because the Nosferatu Primogen informed me of such when he contacted me after she had spoken with him" Teddy replied, one hand moving to pet the ferret while the second ferret, a warm brown colour, scurried up the back of James' seat and peaked over his shoulder.

"An' you got your panties all in a bunch over it." Wasn't a question. He leaned forward and looked her in the eye. "Why? Why do ya care?"

"Because I care about the Domain. Because I care about not failing at this as well. Because I care about the well being of people and I rather hold the position and do my best at it than let someone I wouldn't for a second trust my back to take over without a fight. She won't do the people here any good" she shook her head, leaning down to let the ferret down on the floor. It looked, disappointed.
"Because I'm being told I am a bad Harpy, and I'll gladly admit, I could be better at this. But I am learning. And what would make me a truly bad Harpy would be to roll over and play dead so she can have her way. I don't wish to reflect poorly on Jamie or on the Council who, up until now, have given me their trust. I don't want to leave the Domain at the mercy of that woman, because I care about it. About the people"

He snorted softly. "That right there is your problem. Ya care about tha people in tha domain, not about tha domain as a whole. What's good for tha domain is ta have a functional, whip-smart and ruthless harpy, hon."

"A Domain is nothing without its people" though she guessed that settled it as far as support went. "I wouldn't ask you to support me if you didn't think I should have the job" Teddy smiled softly. "Miss Areron will no doubt fit the bill of ruthless" though fuck it if Teddy would be around if that woman took over.

He looked up at her. "Why aren't you doin' it? Right now? If ya don't want her ta have tha position so bad?"

"What do you want me to do? My first step was to speak with the Primogens. You rather I started by undermining her?"

He nodded. "Yep. Bitch got enough dirty laundry ta fill my hamper three times. Air it an' undermine her, less Primogen will be willin' ta listen to her."

Yeah, she was so not the type to want to go about it that way. Though, she'd already said to Lowrey she would do what was needed as long as it didn't go against her principles. And while undermining the competition was not her style, at all, there was a difference if what was being said was true and not a lie.

The silence suggested she might be considering it...

He leaned forward. "Ya think for one minute she wouldn't drag ya through tha mud if she could?"

"Of course she would. Without a second of doubt" she was pretty certain about that.

"Right now, you got tha upper hand, hon. Use that, while ya still got tha time to."

"I'm trying to" she didn't like it, but she was trying to. "I will make some calls, see what I can find out" though depending on how fast Areron worked it may or may not do much. "Check in with some other Harpies" and well, take it from there.
It still left the matter of the Brujah support undetermined. but, she'd said she didn't expect support less they actually thought her worthy of it. And she guessed this was what it would take to gain that support.

He nodded. "I'll call a Clan meetin', see if I can't convince tha other Brujah ta continue ta support ya."

"Thank you" the blond nodded politely really. "Meanwhile I guess I get to play the bitch" she added with a slight smirk. "And go digging some laundry"

He grinned. "I'm sure there's some smelly socks somewhere."

"Let's hope so" because if Areron took over as Harpy? The Hell Teddy would be seen anywhere around town...
