She smiled.

"You listen to me bitch and whine about it. That's enough."

"I'd still like to do more," she gave Rai a comforting smile.

She tilted her head.

"Want to be a deputy?"

"I... Well, yeah!"

Soooo not turning that down. "I mean, if you think I'm able. Anything I can do to help, really."

She hadn't actually expected that sort of answer from Cassiel. She was grateful for it, don't misunderstand. But she hadn't expected it, since, well... Cass? Hadn't ever shown any interest in the office or duties of the Sheriff. At least, not to her.

"What? You'd be fantastic at it!"

She meant it. Genuinely meant it.

"It's a very thankless job, though. I hope you realize that."

"I'm not looking for thanks, though. So it's okay. I just... I don't know, I want to help," she smiled. "Sounds like a good place to start."

She couldn't help but grin. She was stupidly happy about it.

"Okay. Then it's settled. Just show up at my office, we'll get the official bits taken care of, and we'll get you started on some research. Sound good?"

"That sounds really good," she squeezed Rai's arm. "Really really good. Thank you, Rai."

She smiled.

"It's a selfish thing, really. I need the help."

"Why is it selfish? I don't think there's anything wrong with asking for a little help. Hell, we all live here, right? I think it's about time I start pulling my own weight."

She smiled.

"You pull your own weight a lot, Cass. You just may not realize it."

"Well, it's about time to pull a little more, then. I can handle some extra responsibility," she grinned, hands on her hips.

She grinned.

"You know that people are going to talk, right?"

"They often do," she chuckled. "Not much anyone can do to stop that... Bunch of gossip whores anyway."

She laughed.

"Sometimes, being a Kindred reminds me of being in high school."

"It does... Oh, yeah... I was the one getting talked about," she smiled. "No wonder this feels so familiar! But, I have this really long middle finger that works wonders. That and plenty of batteries to fill a pillowcase."

She started to laugh again.

"Oh, nobody hates you here."

"Well, no, not in the immediate vicinity," she smiled. "But it made you laugh just the same."

She grinned.

"It did, but I have a weird sense of humor."

"And if I had seen half the shit you have, I'd probably have a weird sense of humor, too. That's only fair."

She laughed.

"I'm also older than you."

"Yeah," she smiled. "Lookin' damn good for your age, too."

She grinned.

"I'm like Jane Seymour."

"Classic," she gave a thumbs up to that.

She grinned and glanced over her shoulder at the door.

"Think we can handle this whole party thing?"
