Marcus offers a sympathetic chuckles, leaning forward to study the board for a few seconds before moving a pawn up.: C7 to C6. He rests both his elbows on his knees as he flicks his gaze up to Tom "Do you enjoy the work though?" he asks curiously.

Marcus sighs softly, not seeming in any real hurry for Tom to play and he nods again "Yeah, I hear that brother. It's kinda hard when you have to balance responsibilities that come with the job, as well as the desire for a relationship or family. We choose to become doctors to help folk, but in the end, we sacrifice any semblance of a normal life for the greater good." Marcus leans back, folding his arms across his chest as he continues studying the board, flicking his eyes upwards periodically.

Marcus smiles "What brought you to the field of Orthopedic medicine?" he asks, lifting a hand suddenly "Not that it isn't a good one mind you." He flashes Tom a good natured grin, nodding to the board "Just seems like you would be an amazing General Practitioner. I'm sure that not only would every head in the place, not to mention being one of the most sought after doctors there."

Marcus flashes Tom a grin "Yeah, that's always the way it seems to work. For me, I just liked the idea of being good in a lot of different areas, so never really settled on one specific field. I suppose the question is then; Are you happy doing it?" Marcus clasps his fingers over his chest and leans back into the plush chair regarding Tom for a few seconds "Long hours, ungrateful patients and lack of a social life aside, I've always found that if I truly love what I do, I can push it all aside." He speaks lightly, but there are undertones of experience within his voice, as though he's truly been there before.

His smile eases some, his eyes growing sympathetic "But you want more." he says, leaning forward some. "Else you wouldn't have had an add up for a late night friend. Marcus rests his elbows on his knees, keeping his eyes centered on Tom for a time, a friendly smile brightening his face a good deal.

Marcus laughs some, shaking his head as he sits back. "That won't be a problem with me Tom. I keep odd hours myself, and I have to say it's kinda nice finding a friend who enjoys a game of chess now and then." He glances down at the board again, then back up to his companion, reaching into his jacket pocket for a small business card and hands it to Tom "tell you what. If you need anything, give me a hollar. I'm a computer tech guy, so I have a good deal of experience fixin and strengthening systems."

"Right then" he says, glancing down at the board again "I think it was your turn..." Marcus flahses a quick smile up at Tom and nods.
