She gave him a deer in the headlights look.

"Uh... what about that redhead over there? Why don't you... dance with her and I can watch and see what I pick up?"

"Chicken."

He turned and looked where Cass was pointing, then started to laugh again.

"Aye, I remember tha' lass."

And without another thought of it, he gave Cass a wink, drained his glass, and headed over to where Abigail was. To her, he spoke quietly.

"Didna expect t' see ye here, lass."

She mouthed the word 'chicken' to the bottle she carried under her arm. And then realized, that was the first time she'd ever been called such and didn't immediately care. Ouch.

She let him do what he was gonna do and turned back to the bar, slapping another $50 down and grabbing a second bottle.

She glanced over at the sound of the slightly familiar voice "Oh. Fancy seein' ye here. Small world." she says with a smile

"Aye. I dinna get out much. Wha' brings ye here?"

He smiled and ordered a whiskey for her, then turned his attention back to her.

"I go' a wee bit busy wi' things for a while, an' then me wife left me. So I finally go' a babysitter for th' wee one an' decided t' finally come out for a bit."

She raises an eyebrow then frowns "Aye.....well shit......Im sorry ta hear tha'...."

Cass, on the other hand, went and found a nice dark corner to sit in. She popped her earbuds in her ears and carefully traded one bottle of paid-for booze with one from her back that would actually do something to her and spent the rest of the evening sucking away on it, allowing Jamie to have some privacy with the red head.

"Thank ye for th' sentiment. Bu' truly, i' be all right."

When her glass of whiskey came, he turned and handed it to her with a smile.

"So, I'm sorry I've nay been back. Bu' I definitely will be."

He smiled at her and gave a nod.

"Aye... thank ye. Bu' I be a man o' my word. I'll be back. An' tha' said, d' ye dance at all? My dear friend over there," he nodded toward Cass, "is a wee sourpuss an' won't dance wi' me."
