Areron nodded and her answer was to share the secret, "I staked Alex. He planted those drugs in my car to try to get me arrested, he made Griselda cry, he hurt Cassiel, all thoughtlessly and stupidly and without purpose, so...I staked him."

She laughed, so happy to say it out loud.

"I hope he doesn't somehow find his way free like Grant did!"

She smiled.

"Where have you stashed him? Somewhere safe? Or have you sent him into the Carnival as well?"

"Yes to the carnival. I needed to pay two kindred to pay for my own life and my sister is safe and sound at home." Areron said proudly.

"I vowed to myself the person who planted the drugs would be next."

She chuckled.

"Good. Then I am glad that he is out of the picture. He was always a bit of a pain."

"I know right? I hear that Cassiel doesn't even care about him anymore...this strange Malkavien came and spoke to her and she's acting very strangely. Have you spoken to her recently?"

She shook her head.

"I don't speak much with Cassiel."

Areron nodded, "She can be very difficult to talk to. Whiney and self depvicating..." Areron rolled her eyes. "But Victoria says that she'll be different now. So maybe she'll be more bearable."

"How do you feel about Victoria? She had a sudden interest in me and I'm not sure about her yet..."

She shook her head.

"I have not had the pleasure."

"I only have two. Victor and Doc."

"Victor!" Areron gaped.

"I torpored Teddy and stole her bear for him, so he could expieriement on the bear. I would put my life on the line for him."

She smiled.

"Really? Fascinating."

Her eyelids drooped as she thought for a moment.

"Would you only lay your life down for him?"

"As I'm sure you might guess from the rumors about me, I was indeed very close with Joseph Mayek, Victor's old partner in crime. He mentored me and taught me. He saved my life many times.

"To an extent I pass that loyalty on to Victor, being a person Joseph respects above all others. So would I lay more than my life down? It depends on what he's asking for and what it is, but I take my duty and debt very seriously."

She nodded.

"Loyalty is important. I myself am loyal to my friends. And knowing that your loyalty is to Victor means that I can trust you as well. I hope that you will trust me, as well. You seem to be a very useful individual."

Areron smiled, pleased at the compliment, "Yes, I try to be useful. A good 'minion', ha. There's no shame in knowing your place. I like men of vision to follow and assist. It brings me pleasure."

"Victor will use me to his ends and I will do my best to satisfy. So it would appear we can trust each other...and I was feeling so alone in this city."

She nodded.

"Having someone you can trust is always good. But you should be aware I am a partner to the man, not a minion. However, I will always be here for you when you need someone to talk to."

Areron nodded, "Yes. I understand."

Joseph had told her Victor was the kind of man who did have partners like that. Lucky her, Joseph would have none of that.

"Then I would appear I am your subservient by extension."

She gave a small smile.

"I will not abuse you. To the contrary. So long as you are useful, everything I have is yours. A place to stay, an ear, a hiding place. And I will do this for as long as you are useful to one of us."

Areron nodded, pleased. After all, a master has responsibilities to their sevants, just as much as the servants do to their masters. Victor understood this, Henrietta appeared to understand this, and so it was a sutible arrangmeent.

"Good, then it is settled. Just don't forget to use me. If there's one thing that drives me crazy it's not getting to come out and play..." She smirked. Something she was familar with.

Areron laughed, "Oh, I've been forgotten before. But no matter. I think we have a winning team here."

"Yes, yes it is." Areron was satisfied. Things seemed to be coming together.

"Perhaps I should introduce you to Victoria, if you would be interested?"

"Oui, that would be good. I would enjoy that greatly. Are there other influential people you believe I should meet?"
