Explanations (Areron) - Frederico's Haven

"Oh really? Do tell." Areron said leaning in. Maybe she'd get to the bottom of what Estabon was starting to say before.

He laughed.

"Nothing terrible, I assure you. She was actually quite devastated to hear of your demise at one point. That, and the demise of your own lover, whom, I gathered, had some sort of special relationship with her as well... though I do not know what that may have been. It is why her reaction to you was so confusing to me."

"Wow, he was so not my lover when she knew me." Areron was perfectly mortified. "She said that?"

"He was her ex. They had a nasty split." Areron blurted out.

Understanding dawned in his eyes.

"Ah, so that would be the former lover she has mentioned. She has never told me his name."

He tilted his head.

"Whether you thought he was your lover or not, she clearly knew. I even heard tales of how she cried in the arms of my son, sobbing really, at the news of your deaths. So I have not heard anything terrible from her about you, or anyone else. Not by name, that is."

Areron looked sad at that. "Yes, that was hard on many people I'm afraid. At least she found happiness. I don't think she has it out for clan Toreador, sir. Promoting her own personal ends? Of course. Who doesn't? But unless she's a totally different person from who I knew, she's not out to sabatage the clan."

"Right now? Estabon. She loves the guy. That's all she's talked about since I got here. She feels no real connection to her clan." Areron shrugged apologetically. "I'm afraid I don't know more. I've only just come back and we're both busy people."

His brow that had quirked? Yeah, it stayed that way. Quirked even more, too.

"So she does this simply for Estaban? That seems, somehow, ridiculous to me. I wonder, though, if this is her solution to keep me from upsetting Estaban more."

"Yes." Areron nodded. "I question it too. If every toreador left the clan because of thier lover, there would be no toreador left."

"But truly, it was all an attempt to please you and lessen strain on her precious Estabon. If they are blood bound, she is too. That is why I think it so sweet."

He frowned.

"Are they? Blood bound, I mean. I had wondered. They weren't before. But they act so differently now, I had started to wonder."

"I don't know that for sure. But thier behavior says that to me. It is only an observation. I've been I'm that situation myself a couple of times."

He nodded.

"As have I. It's not a crime or anything of the sort. But it leaves little room for anything else. And I need my son to step up, but the Primogen I know that he can be."

Areron nodded, "He will be. I'll do what I can, but also, he has the talent. He's smooth, far smoother than I could ever be. An excellent mediator and the voice of reason in heated times. He just needs a little pushing is all."

He smiled.

"You seem to already know my son quite well. Tell me, has he taken you to his bed yet?"

Yes, yet.

Areron laughed a little embaressed, "Oh, heavens no, he only has eyes for Griselda. But I have been working with him on the harpy thing and I've been trying to get his support on dealing with Cassiel's anger issue. Someone burned that girl badly and she's lashing out, until she either heals up or learns to control herself, she's a liability to the clan in my opinion."

His brows rose.

"Once upon a time, he would have had you in his bed within a few hours of meeting you. I'm not sure if him only having eyes for Griselda is a good thing. It's... she's.... changed him. Ah, well. What about Cassiel's anger issue, though? What makes you think that she is a liability to the Clan?"

Not that he didn't agree. He was curious about the little Toreador's perspective, though.

"Like I said at the meeting, she's got the passion, but none of the grace. I appreciate her fire but..."

"I met her the first night I came. She was lovely, well informed, kind. I rather liked her. The next night she summoned me, pulled me away from my unpacking and business. I arrived and she yelled at me about how no one wanted me here, how I was blind, how I should have just stayed dead, that a bitch I was, etc. And...no explination."

"I got it out of Estabon later that she felt she was protecting a friend I had hurt somehow, but I had only just arrived so I don't know how I could have hurt anyone, even if I had that certainly was a childish and borish way to go about it. Uncontrolled, unfocused."

"Then watching her go off on you, made me realize this wasn't an isolated inncident. She's got anger issues, authority issues, whatever. And it needs to be dealt with."

He seemed to mostly be amused.

"I see. Well, she is a bit of a spitfire, I'll give you that. What would you suggest as a good way to teach her such a lesson as anger management? I am not ashamed to admit that I am much more a lover than a fighter. To teach one manners and let them figure out on their own how best to control their tempers is generally the way I go about teaching. But when one has been raised with proper manners, there is little by way of anger issues. I am woefully unprepared for dealing with a Toreador that has a temper to rival a Brujah's. Hm... I wonder... she is currently a ward of the Prince. I wonder is his Brujah temper is rubbing off on her?"

"I've never seem such a temper in a toreador, perhaps you are right. I'm not really sure how to deal with her to be honest. I'm planning on having a talk with her to get down to the bottom of it. We'll see how that goes." Areron didn't have high hopes.

"Perhaps a little understanding will go a long way." Areron shrugged. Hey, it could happen. "Whatever it is, she needs to heal, maybe once I have more information a clear course of action might present itself."

He laughed softly.

"Perhaps she is just all a-twitter with wedding plans. I hear she's planning to get married, as well."

"Married? Oh how strange." Areron said intrigued by the idea. "Well, hopefully once that's over she will be happy and less...bitey." Areron laughed.

"Either way, we have a few more pressing matters before she is dealt with, I haven't even given thought to this keeper situation. I'll talk to Estabon about it. I need more information before I can form an opinion."

His brows rose.

"What is wrong with the Keeper? I've generally heard of Henrietta Moreau as being the quintessential Brujah. Tough, strong, very much so."

"You should go see her, she's not alright. Not at all. I suspect a power having been sued on her she's so...lifeless. She just doesn't care. She's a total mess. Estabon was most concerned, so I knew this wasn't normal for her."

"She has the markings of an elder going into volluntary torpor." Areron said gravely. "Unless we figure out what happened and get her fire back, I imagine we will need a new keeper very soon."

He snorted.

"I'm unsurprised. They say that the position of Keeper here is cursed. We've already went through three? Maybe four... ah, well. Yes, I'll give Henrietta a visit."

"Cursed? Well then, maybe we don't want to put one of our own in the position." She said, jokingly of course. Holding the position of keeper was a powerful one.
