I Need to Speak with You (Marvin) - Marvin's Haven

She pulled up as he had said to, and walked to the door, She knocked lightly and slipped her hands back into her pockets.

Marvin answered the door. "Come in and make yourself at home. And before I get happy to see you alive, give me your keys so I can see who handled it last pleas3e. "

Her answer? Was to snort and smack him in the back of the head with her keys. Then she handed them over.

"Dork."

"Ow" he said while trying spirit's touch on the keys "well let's see here "

She just smirked and waited with her hand held outward for her keys.

He handed them back with a genuine smile. "Welcome back. What can I do for you ?"

She took her keys and tucked them back into her pockets.

"Found Naomi."

He blinked. "How is the poor girl?'

She frowned.

"Physically, she's fine. Mentally... Marvin, she's more traumatized than I can actually express in words. The first words she said to me were 'please not another farm animal,' followed by 'am I supposed to fuck you now'. It's not good."

He winced and sat down.

"She was never... stable to begin with and I made some mistakes with her. What the hell did they do to the poor girl? And when I tried to undo some of what I did, she didn't want to go back. Like wearing clothes or the like... Can I see her? Help her?"

She shook her head.

"I'm... I'm really sorry, Marvin. She doesn't want to see you. She doesn't want to talk to you. I've put her with someone safe, someone who will maybe be able to undo some of the instability. She needs someone who can be a stable force for her, especially right now, but asking people to train her to be a sex slave and using her like one? No bueno, Marvin. I've put her somewhere that she won't be subjected to anything sexual, in any form. She's being taken care of, properly."

"First question, is why did you go in after her? That was an insane risk. Second, thank you for getting her out. And third, I wouldn't dream of keeping her as a sex toy at this point after what she's been through."

She shook her head.

"You asked me to. I tend to not leave innocents in the clutches of evil if I can help it. Secondly, you're welcome. Thirdly... that's not really my call in any fashion. She doesn't want to be with you, doesn't want to see you or talk to you and says you remind her of the Ringmaster from the Circus. I don't really know what that means, but no matter what your intentions might be at this point, she shouldn't be around you. Not only does she not want to, it would be counter-productive to healing her obviously fragile mind."

He raised an eyebrow. "You are a morally superior woman Ra'idah Tahan. If she doesn't want to see me, I won't press the issue. And speaking of issues that need to be pressed, Victor Morton is up to some serious no good."

She snorted.

"Of course he is. The man's a Tremere."

"The kind of no good where he would teach Tremere magic to a Malkavian in order to gain what he wants. He is going to teach me technomancy, plus provide a major and a minor boon for the creation of an EMP field generator."

She rolled her eyes.

"Let me guess. You agreed to that insanity, right?"

"For two very good reasons, yes. One, I want the technomancy. Bad. Two, the science is so stupid simple, that if he actually took the time to look into it, he could do it himself. Hells bells, anyone who can make something go boom, and wrap copper wire can make one. So by agreeing to do it, I also kept control over the situation. I sent you an email right away, then no response and told the Prince. That's when I found out you were dead... which also spares me the effort of building an eternal torch made of laser beams.... hope you would have liked green laser light by the way."

"So as I told the Prince, as long as I'm working on this project it can be stalled, delayed or hampered easily. If I'm off it, he goes and ghouls a mortal physicist or electrical engineer and gets it anyway, and we lose track of what he's doing."

It was clear she had stopped listening after the first sentence.

"You just signed your own death warrant, Marvin. You're going to die. And there's not a god damned thing I can do about it. The Tremere are going to kill you."

She shook her head and started for the door.

"I'd like to be as far away from you as possible when they do. They tend to be messy about it."

"It's an either or thing" he said dryly "All boons, or some boons and the magic. Besides, Raz0r is still alive, and I know she annoys them more than me. And Ra'idah... I'm glad you are alive for what it's worth."

She paused by the door and turned to look back at him.

"Thanks. For the well-wishes. But I can only lead a horse to water. Stop being so fucking greedy, Marvin. That's what's going to get you and half of this domain killed along with you."

"Just a sec please."

"I didn't expect him to agree to the magic. Second, I don't have to take it. Without it, he'll simply owe me close to a blood boon. None of which I care about, more I care about keeping him from deploying these things, or at least knowing he's going to do it. He is paying me for the research, the effort and the finished project. Three steps Tell me how long to delay each one and I will."

"This isn't about greed Ra'idah. It's about first keeping our evil Tremere from doing something stupid, that's why I gave him insane price quotes. It's a minor thing at best for me. He agreed to the price and that scared the shit out of me, even as badly as I want the magic. I want this plot foiled more though. Tell me how long to delay him."

She shifted her weight, her hip resting against the door. One hand was on the doorknob as she shook her head.

"That's the problem, Marvin. That's not what you want. You want to prove that you've got the biggest balls in the city. That nobody can touch you. That you're invincible, the biggest pit bull in the pen, when it comes to your little computers thing. Well, let me inform you of something that everyone else pretty much automatically knows: you're not. And you never will be. Get over it. The Nos are going to fuck with you because you won't just drop it. Do you know, or even care, that the best way to actually accomplish what you're trying to say you want to accomplish would just be to go to Raz0r and say 'Hey, so, I don't want to step on your toes, how about we work out what is your turf and what isn't?' Or for fuck's sake, just Netflix Hackers."

She shook her head.

"But no, you'd rather get everyone around you that you care about murdered by a bunch of heartless Tremere because you want to prove that you've got a bigger dick. Want to know what really, really sucks, Marvin? That you'll die for nothing, since she'll just hack your shit, even with Technomancy, within minutes of you putting up protections anyway. She's just that much better than you.

"If you really just want to go and work in peace? Go buy a storefront and fix rich snowbirds' laptops and desktops and charge them inappropriate amounts of money. That's what everyone else knows, and why we all know that you're doing it wrong."

"The hell you talking about? And I did talk to her. She's a bitch. She says everything is her turf. Anway I made you aware of Victors plans. That's mostly what I was trying to pull off there. "

She just covered her face with her hand.

"Sometimes, I hate you, Marvin. Have a good night."
