Late Night Scout - The White Tower

And then, Alex picked up on the other end, "Charlie, what's up?"

In the background "No, the firm in New York."

The little girl squirmed in her seat, looking at Charlie's cell phone in some wonder. She did remain silent, her little hands tucked under her thighs.

"Alex, it's Charlie. I..." he threw a quick sideways glance at the girl and then looked back to the road.
//"Please tell me you speak French?"// Charlie quickly changed to his native, or rather his second native language and hoped the Gangrel would know what he was saying.

The little girl remained silent, simply staring out the window catatonically.

"Charlie, I don't speak French... if you've got a handle on Latin or Gaelic though I can do that. Now what's up?"

Latin, fine, he could go with that.

//"I got a problem. A big one. Someone up and slaughtered the receptionist at the apartment building where I live and the security guard, for seemingly no reason, decided to take a dive off the building. I have no clue what's going on, but I need a lawyer. A good one won't do. I need the best I can possibly get my hands on"// he made a right turn, still keeping to the speed limit and keeping the girl in the corner of his eyes.
//"I got visited by some late night girl scout which, if my instincts aren't completely off, might be some vampire's pet. I'm not sure yet but I'm finding out. I managed to get out of there, but the police is not going to be happy I left and i do not want them poking around my Haven. So please, please tell me you got some contacts in this town or else I'm royally screwed"// Charlie groaned.
//"So that's the sort version. Girl scout, dead receptionist, splattered security guard, awed police men. I'm beginning to seriously dislike this place"//

Still in shock, the little girl managed to mumble, "I'm not Her pet.."

Oh for crying out...

"Sorry.." he offered with a sigh. "Poor choice of words..."

"It's okay.." She continued quietly, in a 'nothing-else-matters-anymore' tone. "Addison teaches us all based on what she wants us to be - she doesn't make us drink her blood so that we can age normally. She says I would be best as a doctor, so I learned Latin for all of the medical terms. You would have been better with the first language."

"You hear that Alex?" Charlie said with a hint of a smirk to his tone of voice. "We need to teach you French like a civilized human being"

Alex smirked, "Anyone I've ever asked said that the French were cheese loving surrender monkeys. But I'll be nice and not say that about you Charlie." Then Alex got really quiet. So quiet that only Charlie could hear him.

"First of all, fuck you" he said with a hint of a smirk. "And second, lawyer. I still need one that can keep the cops off my back and out of my place while they sort out the dead people at the building. So please tell me you know someone...." the youth threw a sideways glance over at the kid in the passenger seat.
"Also... I need to talk with you. In private. Just the two of us. And my place is hardly safe right now"
In fact, something about the whole "needing to talk to you" sounded somewhat more important to him than the fact that he currently had an entire police station crawling all over the building that housed his Haven.

"Ok, so, part A... i.e. fucking me, that's completely circumstantial on a few levels," yep, he was still grinning, "Part B... Lawyers, I have them, lots of them who are pretty damned amazing and if I don't have the best under contract I can sure as hell afford the best for you. So no worried there. That said, you want to talk not at your haven. Understood. Meet me at my place, you know the way."

"I can afford the fees, just get me the most vicious sharks you got and I'll be grateful" the nod of his head was instinctive even if he knew Alex couldn't see it. "And I'll be by your place shortly as soon as I've sorted some other things" the youth paused. "Thank you"

Once he'd pocketed the phone, he reached out with a gentle hand to brush a few strands of hair away from the girl's face as he smiled gently and gave her a light nod of his head. "Let's get you home alright? Just point me in the right direction"

She nodded to Charlie, directing him here.
