I do so enjoy ringing the private phone of an executive and walking him through a systems breech, before offering to make sure someone like me can't get back in. For a price of course."

"Perhaps" she made a left turn. "I don't need the job, but I could use the distraction I suppose"
The Caitiff pouted her lips to produce a pink bubble from cherry flavoured gum.
"I kinda stopped with the prank calls back in school" although judging from the lingering smirk on her lips, the idea did seem to hold a certain aspect of interest.

"More than a prank call. When you get that deep into someone's systems, you can either rob them blind, leave them alone, or go to work for them. The smart ones hire you to fix their systems. The douchebags you just rob blind because that is what you planned to do in the first place. The nice ones who aren't smart, eh you usually just leave them alone, because most of them will come back to you the first time somebody robs them blind."

"In the case of Rourke, probably not touch a thing if no job comes of it."

She shrugged her shoulders in a way as if to say alright. The Caitiff had long since dismissed the idea of opening an office in this town anyways, so why not poke around and have a little fun instead.

"Excellent. I told Mr. Rourke if he had objections to let know by now, and he hasn't."

"You really do have a weird sense of humor" the Caitiff shook her head. Calling ahead first? that one was new. Unless of course you counted threats. Then she'd been there and done that.

"Yes. Wire has me spooked, and I suspect that this man is either already well connected in town, or is respected. Too much money and power. Doesn't bode well to put on the black hat. Of course if he didn't boost his security, he did after I talked to him, which means Wire again. Which is what I hope for. Because this is going to be as much social engineering as trying to get around anything he has in place."

He presented an interesting case. Although one thing did bother her.
"You're sure you're not getting in over your head?" the Caitiff asked. "I don't doubt your skills. I know what you can do. But this game is as much political as it is personal right now, and if the bitch has the right connections he/she/it might choose to use them in order to bring you down before you've had a chance to really rise"

"I know I can fight on the same arena as Wire. But I need to do so knowing I at least got my business in the clear. As do you. I can't throw the books at them if I can't prove beyond any reason of doubt that we haven't overstepped our boundaries"

"That's why I made it plain to Mr. Rourke that I was coming. I've hacked businesses before. Always the same rules. The owner knows I'm coming. He can either beef up his systems, or he can leave them as is to test them. I'm betting Rourke is choosing the beefed up option. Then if I can get in, that's great. If not, well I'll have a little chat with him anyway just for giggles."

"This is as much about boredom, as an attempt to... the fuck you mean you can move in the same arena?"

"you think the bitch got the drop on you without cheating?" she arched an eyebrow. "I mean really, punk got the drop on me, and I know for a fact that the only way to do that these days is by packing a few tricks not commonly known outside certain Tremere circles"

He frowned "You know Tremere tricks have a way of getting the wielder killed by Tremere. Make sure if you've got 'em that you don't flaunt 'em."
