Checking on the Newcomer (Arliss) - Panther's Lair

Grace walked to the edge of the swamp, far enough out that she wouldn't be heard by civilization.

Then she howled as a wolf would, calling friends to her. It was time to have questions answered.

The first to arrive was a large wolf, which actually looked to be an arctic wolf. It cocked its head to stare at Grace in a questioning manner. Then it cocked its head the other way, waiting for the Gangrel to speak.

Grace knelt in front of the wolf, exposing her neck ever so slightly. She spoke in the tongue of wolves, though she did not know the tongue of those wolves who turned to men.

I apologize, but I do not recognize the one before me.

The wolf seemed to let out a yawn, but quickly enough answered.

Grace laughed.

Your wolf is beautiful. I come with questions for Arliss. There is a new wolf in town, masquerading as a Gangrel to all but myself, Jamie, and Anton.

Why has this wolf come?

By the words of his letter, he is here to help. To help we Kindred with the trash that no one else wants to deal with. Thus my coming out here to put questions to Arliss. He is an unknown, and I would change that if he is to pretend to be one of us.

She licked her muzzle, then turned her head to look over her shoulder. She howled, similar to Grace's own howl, but still somehow ... different. Then she turned to look back at the Gangrel.

He will be here shortly, Grace.

Grace nodded.

Thank you, Mist. Have your swamps been giving you the solitude you seek from others of our kind? Or do I have to yell at people.

There was a chuffing sound, much like laughter, from the wolf.

No one dares to venture into my swamp lately, Grace.

Grace chuckled.

Perhaps having the pack come to Elysium that night was a good thing for your solitude.

Her head lowered, almost to her paws.

Then, as they were both old and didn't need many words, she allowed the silence to reign until Arliss arrived.

It did not take long. The large wolf came bounding from the swamp, obviously at the request of the Gangrel's call. He turned to look toward Grace for a moment, then lowered himself into a copy of the post Mist currently held.

Hello, Grace.

Grace tilted her head to the side, baring her throat to him.

Arliss, thank you for coming. And please, both of you, rise. I accept apology for any wrong that you have done, and grant forgiveness unto the pack.

It seemed to take a moment, but both wolves rose after she spoke. Mist trotted over, nosing Grace's hand - she liked pettings.

Arliss tilted his head as he watched the two Gangrel.

How can I help you, Grace?

Grace obligingly gave the white wolf pettings.

There is a new wolf in the city, wanting to masquerade as a Gangrel to all by myself, the Prince, and the Seneschal. I would know what you know of him. His name is Jeremy Black.

He sat, putting his rump down on the ground. He tilted his head, watching Grace.

I have never heard of him, Grace.

She nodded.

I know not what other name he may go by. Would you be adverse to my bringing him to meet with you. I would trust your opinion on whether or not to trust him, as I do not believe that you have anything specific against those vampires under my care.

Hand still in Mist's fur, her smile grew slightly feral.
